Dear Sri MadhavakkaNNan :
Regarding the two questions you raised ,
the rules of the SanyAsa asramam are covered
by 18 Upanishads called SanyAsOpanishads .
I wrote a long article on them and did not
publish it . There are many kinds of SanyAsis
and the strict rules are different regarding
their length of stay at one place , the frequencies
of eating , etc . Narada ParivrAjaka Upanishad is
the most detailed one on this subject . This is a
big subject . Also , Yaadhava prakAsar has
written at the request of AchArya RaamAnuja
a treatise on this subject after becoming the
sishyan of his erstwhile sishyan . This subject could
also be included in the AchArya CD ROM as well .
I AM ONLY SURPRISED AT THE NOT-SO-HOT RESPONSE FROM
OUR BHAKTHI LIST ON SUPPROTING THIS PROJECT AND
HELPING WITH THE CAUSE OF ADVANCING BHAGAVADH
RAAMANUJA SIDDHANTHAM THRU THE NEW MEDIA . THERE
ARE LOT OF INTEREST EXPRESSED TO HELP YOUNGSTERS TO UNDERSTAND
OUR SAMPRADHAAYAM . HOPE WE WILL GET ADDITIONAL SUPPORT
TO COMPLETE THIS KAIMKARYAM .
In answer to your second question , Yes ,
Aapath SanyAsam is allowed and Sri NaarayANa
Theerthar of " Sri KrishNA LeelA TarangaNI "
fame is a well known example . As he was about to
drown in cauvery water , while swimming across it
to reach his father-in-law's house to meet his wife ,
he took aapath sanyAsam . Fortunately , he was not
drowned .He left home and stayed at VarahUr near
Tanjore and composed the famous Krithis that were
approved personally by HanumAn , who kept TaaLam
for the songs as they were composed . NaarayaNa Theethar
threw away those compositions that were not accompanied by
HanumAn on Cymbals and considered tham not worthy
for the divine service .
