SrI: SrImathE Gopaladesika mahadesikaya namah: Dearest all, Let us continue to enjoy AzhwArs wonderful verses on ThiruvEnkatam. Today?s ThiruvEnkatam verse is: NammAzhwAr?s Thiruvaaymozhi 6.10.5 puNaraa ninRa maramEzhan Reytha voruvil valavaavO, puNarEy ninRa maramirandin natuvE pOna muthalvaavO, thiNaraar mEgam enakkaLiRu sErum thiruvENG kadaththaanE, thiNaraar saarngath thunpaadham sErva thadiyE Nnen^_naaLE? 6.10.5 5. Bhagawaan! (When Sugreevan wished to test You) You sent an arrow through the disorderly grown seven trees and showed Your capacity with Your Divine Bow. You crawled between the two marudha maram (trees) with the mortar tied to your waist, during Krishnavataara. Thus, You appeared as Rama and krishna and became our savior. You now are standing gracefully at ThiruvEnkatam as Srinivasa PerumAL for our benefit again. You are carrying the strongest Divine Bow in Your hands. When will adiyEn [this servant of yours] reach Your Most beautiful Lotus Feet?(Please bless me). PeriyAzhwAr also refers to these marudha trees incident in his pAsuram 1.6.5 ? He says: He is The Smartest One who stole the butter and ghee prepared and stored by long haired cowherd women; who later got caught and tied to a mortar and crawled in between the two marudha trees that stood and made them fall using his thighs and hands to push them down. My father! With those dense black tresses of yours moving here and there (due to the body movements), the hair like the ornament on and prelude to that smiling charming beautiful divine face, dance for me. [Aduga senkeerai Aduga AdugavE.] Are those two marudha trees AsurAs? Due to Narada?s curse (saapam) the sons of KubEra became the trees in Nandhan?s backyard. says SrImad Bhagawatham. Thus, though they just stood there as trees for being saved by KaNNan, the cowherd group considered them as asurAs (with an apprehension always because the asuRAs enter into the wheel, the calf etc.. to kill KaNNan) due to their intense love and concern for Kutti.. There is a Sloka which says: Krite Nrisimha Bhoothosou Tretaayaam Rgahunandanah / Dwaapare Vaasudevas Cha kalao Vemkatanaayakah // (meaning) While Narasimha was the Lord of Kritayuga, Rama (Raghunandana) was the Lord of Treta yuga, Krishna (Vaasudeva) of Dwaapara yuga, it is Venkateswara (Venkata naayakah) who is the Lord of Kaliyuga. As we are in KALIYUGA, we surrender to this KALIYUGA VARADA - Lord Srinivasa.
