Post 2

Dear srivaishNava perunthagaiyeer,

We will continuie discussing the topic of "good governance - raamaa's style". I
wish to express sincere apologies for bhakthaas, on 2 counts -
1. For this inordinate delay in giving the second post.
2. For I am not going to give meaning of the 4 slokams referred in
previouspost. Since I was told that 'uththara kaaNdam -UK- of sreemadh
raamaayaNam' is not to be dealt with in the house, by opening it, referring it,
reading it, etc, I wish to skip that 4 slokams quoted in previous post. Without
knowing such a 'special position' is there for UK, I referred these slokams in
the earlier post. So my apologies to all. Any apacharam done may be pardoned. I
just can not say what is the reason for such a stand, but a senior person told
me that UK is not to be dealt with in the house.

Now continuing, when we start looking for equivalent words for "raaja" in the
"amara kOsam" we find a big list. They are

*       baahuja:
*       kshathriya:
*       viraaja:
*
*       paarthiva:
*       kshmaapa:
*       nrupa:
*       bhoopa:
*       maheekshith
*
*       praNatha:
*       saamantha:
*       aDheeswara:
*       chakravarthee
*       saarvaBhouma
*       mandalEswara:
[refer second chapter of amara kOsam 6.933 to 936 lines].

Now taking up the next 11 slOkams in yudhdha kaaNdam 128th

Dear bhakthaas, from a reading of the above slOkams, you can understand that
there is no mention on raama's style of governance but the results of hisruling
style. Since we were interested more in what was his organisation structure,
who exercised what authority etc perhaps we have to see elsewhere in
raamaayaNam.

Due to length of post, I am stopping here

Dhasan
