SrI: Dear Dr.Gajaraj: The 8 hnads are strangely empty. There might have been weapons . Although the fore head of this statue is smeared with white powder (VibhUthi) , this could be aAshta Bhuja VishNu as at the Kaanchipuram Temple . The ochre robe suggests a monk (Buddha) . This could be a later day addition because of the Buddhist faith that developed there after the 8th century. I am inclined to identify this statue as Vishnu. The churning of the milky ocean for nectar is a big theme at Angkor Watt and that weighs in favor of VishNu as a central theme there. The king's wife ( the wife of the builder of the Angkor Watt) if I remember right was a shiva bhakthai and there were some admixtures among icons.
