DONT OPEN THE DOORS
PLEASE
Certian pAsurams when we chant , though we do it
properly, may result in exactly the opposit emeaning
Here is one such
example
Sri ANDAL as per protocol, requests the
guards of Sri naNdhagOPA s palace,
to open the entrance, in the sixteenth pAsuram of thiruppavai. Traidtionally, we chant all the pAsurams
of TiruppAvai by adding the two words em-pAvAi.
This happens at the end of the sixteenth
pAsuram also and we usually chant as
nEya nilaikkadhavam nIkkEalor
empAvAi
ààà ààààààààààà
àààààààààààààààààà
Unfortunately, this gives the exactly the
opposite meaning.
nIkkEal -dont open.
HH Sri Vanamamalai jIyar svami
(TiruvallikkeaNi svami -Sri Gopala iyengar svami , pUrvAsramam)) used to suggest
that we should chant as
nIikku yEalor or
nIkku - a
split second pasue and yEalor empAvAi.
(As narrated by Sri TS Sundararjan svami, several
years back)
ààà ààààààààààà àààààà
ààààà ààà àààààà
