THE GOLDEN THIRST

Two words joined in tamil language takes  a different form. These joint words may sometimes give a different meaning. Unless, one undersands the two words which join it may lead to different meaning.

During a gosthi  one person came and asked what is the thirst for hiranyan? We were all puzzled.

This is the pAsuram

ààà àààà àààààà àààààà ààààà-
ààà àààààà àààààààààààààà -

mUnRam Tiruvandhadhi 31

hiranayana dhAgam -hiranyan's thirst;

meaning thereby the thirst of hiryanyan or the golden thirst.

AzvAr actually talks of EmperumAn piercing  the chest of hiranyan.
when the two words iraNiyan and AGam  combine it becomes iraNiyanadhAgam.

Agam -chest
it combines into
iraNiyanadhu+AGam merging to iraNiyanadhAgam.

the correct chanting however, would be

ivai avan koil iraNiyanadhu Agam
avai seidhy ari vuruvam Anan

ààà àààà àààààà àààààààà àààà
ààà àààààà àààààààààààààà

(As narrated by Sri T Madhvan svami of ThiruvallikkEANi -Grandson of Sri kadalakkai jIyar svAmi)
