Subject: [ramanuja] Pazhaiya Seevaram
Paarivettai (tEpperumAL)
SrI:
Dear SrIvasihnavas,
Pazhaiya Seevaram aka
Sripuram, is a lovely little village with a temple for Lord Narasimha atop a
small hillock, about 15 km east of Kanchipuram on the road to
Chengalpattu.
The hill temple is visited
by Lord Varadaraja (tEpperumAL) of Kanchipuram on the day following
Makara-Sankaranthi, for what is known as ``Pazhaiya Seevaram Paarivettai''.
Paarivettai is observed to
mark the destruction of evil forces by the Lord and is celebrated in almost
all SrIvaishnavite temples.
SrI.Vanamamalai
Padmanabhan svami has captured a few snaps of Devaperumal
(Kanchipuram) while visiting this hilltop temple during Paarivettai, two
days back.
Also, see an arial view around
this temple at:
Thanks to SrI.Padmanbhan svami,
who describes the arial view as:
" the steps leading to Sri narasimhar temple, the
mandapam-s, the sprawling palar river-bed bereft of water, (it is said that the
water runs underneath) the devoteees and the visitors."
