namaha In the twelfth paasuram, andal sang the praise of
chakravarthi thirumagan, “manaththukkiniyAnai
pAdavum nee vAi thiravAi”.
But the gopis and andal were more involved only with the great leelas of
krishna. So in the next paasuram,
andal talks about the way in which Sri Krishna easily got rid of his enemy. “pullinvAi
keendAnai pollAarakkanai killi kalaindhAnai”. Kamsa sent an asura to kill
krishna. That asura took the form
of a crane. Krishna tore the mouth
of the crane without any difficulty and killed the asura. This leela of krishna was enjoyed by
periazhvar, father of andal as, “paLLaththil mEyum
paravai vurukondu kaLLa asuran varuvAnai thAn kandu puLLidhuvendru podukkO vAi
keenditta” According to our acharyas, the inner essence of this
incident is that, to remove all our enemies emperuman expects
only our acceptance and nothing else. “eththalaikku esaivirE vEnduvadhu;
virOdhi pOkkugai avan paNi endru erukkai.
Nammudaiya anumadhigalukku ishvaran pannum anumadhi vaishamya
nairgrunyaththil pugAdhAppOlE, evvanumadhi vupAyaththil pugAdhu; eruvarkkum

–nAlAyirapadi [What emperuman expects, to remove all our enemies is
the permission from our side. He
takes care of the rest. Emperuman
leaves us to do what all we wish to do whether good or bad and thereafter we
have to bear the fruit for the corresponding acts. That doesn’t mean that emperuman is
partial and he has likes and dislikes.
Similarly our permission or acceptance cannot become an upaya. Both these are due to the nature of
emperuman and the jeevatma.] Sri Pillai lokacharya in his mumukshupadi-charama
sloka prakaranam says, “pEtrukku vEnduvadhu
vilakkAmaiyum, erappum” (273). To attain the divine feet of emperuman
we have to do two things. One is to
allow emperuman come to our rescue and then request him to grant us his divine
kainkaryam. Our acharyas say that
emperuman went at the back of the cows not because the cows requested him to do
so but the cows never stopped him from coming at their back. Moreover, Krishna liked the young girls
in gokulam a lot because the males had a confidence that they can defend
themselves and the elder women had confidence on their husbands which prevented
krishna reaching them but the young girls were innocent and considered krishna
alone to be their sole refuge. (To be continued) Azhvar emperumAnAr Jeeyer thiruvadigalE
