Seedling to the
Farmer
PArathanthriyam
to Emperuman
The tiller tills the land and sows
the seed at a single spot for sometime. Later on after the seed sprouts, he
orgnaises the seedling to his liking and spaces and organises them at a
different place.
If he does not like a
particular seedling or if he feels so, he may discard it or he may pay special
attention to certain ones.
The fact remains that the seedling
gets to be used as per the desire of the farmer.
Sri PeriyAzvhar throws up an
example in the case of his daughter.
He says, 'Seith thlai ezhu nAthup pOle avan seivana
seidhu kOLLa maitthada mugil vaNNan pakkal ivaLai vaLara
vidumingaLEA" PeriyAzvAr Thirumozhi 3-7-9;
Superficially this would mean that
PeriyAzvAr desires His daughter to be left to the care of the
Lord.
This is an example more than
that meets the eye
The nature of soul
is subserivence to EmperumAn. Though the Atma is sentinet, the Atma should
be like an insentient, to be used by Him to His will and
wish.
AzvAr, thus declares that the Atma
has to be placed like a seedling at the hands of the farmer and submit itself to
His desires.
Going a bit deep, we can realise
that it is not just subservience but the state of Atman to be malleable and
ductile, to enable Him to use to His wishes.
The 'namas' sabdhArtham, thus is succinctly brought out
by PeriyAzvAr in this wondeful example.
