Dear sri vaishNava perunthagaiyeer,
When we saw the slokam 'sruthvaa guNaan bhuvana sundharaa' our mind was on krishNa's characteristics and beauty. Just think about the girl who was thus writing – is she less in beauty or characteristics?
No – krishNa acknowledges – 'I can't sleep at night' since I have fixed my mind on her.

Sree bhagavaan uvaacha
tathhaa aham api nidhraam cha na labhE nisee |
vEdhaaham rukmiNaa dhvEsha mama udhvaahO nivaasthih || 10-53-2
meaning: The Supreme Lord krishNa said: Just as RukmiNi's mind is fixed on Me, My mind is fixed on her. I can't even sleep at night. I know that Rukmi, out of envy, has forbidden our marriage. [to the ambassador braahmaNa]
thaam aanayishya unmaththya raajanya apasadhaan mrudhhE |
math para amanavadhya angeem Edhasah agni sikhaam iva || 10-53-3
meaning: She has dedicated herself exclusively to Me, and her beauty is flawless. I will bring her here after thrashing those worthless kings in battle, just as one brings a blazing flame out of firewood.
Point: What is the 'beauty position' of the ladylove of the lord to make him sleepless at night. She has to be a 'bhuvana sundhari' so as to match that bhuvana sundharan is it not? That is true love.
Yes. He, that bhuvana sundharan – in that raasa dance sequence, is described as 'sakshaath manmatha manmatha'
thaasaam aavir abhooth sourih syamaana mukha ambujah |
peetha ambara dhharah sragvee saakshaath manmathha manmathhah || 10-32-2
such a manmatha krishNa says 'her beauty is flawless'. – that kind of beauty – so "made for each other" couple – incomparable in beauty? Yes - as our coimbatore sadagopan swamy calls it "made for each other" –
I add 'self made for each other' – who else can make such a couple – brahmaa? Siva ? or somebody else? NO, except the supreme lord and dhEvi themselves.
But how is it - any description available? For us to imagine and to enjoy, yes. See below -
The kings assembled [like sisupaala jaraasandha and others] looked at her when she came out of dhurga or ambikaa temple and at that stage sree sukhar gives the following description --
thaam dhEva maayaam iva veera mOhineem
sumadhhyamaam kuNdala maNditha aananaam |
syaamam nithamba arpitha rathna mEkhalaam
vyanjasthaneem kunthaLa sankhitha eekshNaam || 10- 53-51
meaning: RukmiNi appeared as enchanting as the kings gazed upon her as
· the Lord's illusory potency – dhEva maayaa
· who enchants even the sober and grave with her virgin beauty, [veera mOhinee] [recollect the mOhini enchanting siva by her beauty – that sober and grave siva – given in 'gold and silver' article].
· her shapely waist, [sumadhhyamaa]
· her lovely face adorned with earrings [kuNdala maNditha aanana]
· copper brown or golden brown coloured [syaamaa]
· Her hips graced with a jewel-studded belt [rathna mEkhalaa arpitha nithamba]
· her breasts just budding [vyanja sthanee],
· her eyes seemed apprehensive of her encroaching locks of hair [kunthaLa sankhitha eekshNaa].
[note: syaama means dark blue, grey, copper brown or golden brown, dark green etc as described in my article on whether raama is green or blue – as a reply to the question by Sri Amara prabhu]
Sree sukhar adds one more slokam on rukmiNi's beauty, which we will see in next.
