SrI: Dear BhakthAs: SrimAn Murali Rangaswamy is a devout student of Swamy Desikan's SrI Sookthis. He is a Rasika Priyan of Swamy Desikan's sthOthrams in general and DayA Sathakam in Particular. I am sure that you would enjoy his spontaneous response to the last posting (57th SlOkam ) of SrI SaraNAgathi DhIpIkai as that SrI Sookthi races to completion. Swamy Desikan ThiruvadigaLE SaraNam , V.Sadagopan > >Sri: > >SrimatE Gopaladesika MahadesikAya Namaha, > >Dear Sriman Sadagopan Swamin, > >Thank you very much for a most beautiful summary of verse 57. It is >extremely touching to note the compassionate glances of >Maragathavalli Thayar falling on Swami Desikan. Thayar's anugraham >for Our Paramacharyan as he nears completion of his Stuthi seems to >be a common feature of the SharaNagati Deepikai, Sri Stuthi and Daya >Shatakam. In the Sri Stuthi, Swami Desikan declares "smEra vakthrA >vibhAsi" to denote the gentle smile evident on Thayar's lips as he >declares "mAtA devi tvamasi Bhagavan vasudeva pitAmE jAtassOham >jananiyuvayOrEkalakshyam dayayA:". Again in the Daya Shatakam, upon >completion of verse 99, Our Swami detects a gentle smile on the face >of Daya Devi, who enquires "what is it that you desire my child?" In >response Swami Desikan performs SarrmuRai in verse 100 much in the >same spirit as Andal's Sirrum sirukAlE through the salutation "na >ata: paramkimapimE thvayinAthanIyam mAthardayE mayikurushva thathA >prasadam baddhAdharO vrushagiri praNayIyaThasoU >mukthAnuBhUthimihAdhAsyathi mE mukundha:" >Famous commentators like U.Ve. Sri A.V. Gopalachariar Swamin opine >that verse 100 dentoes the actual completion of the Daya Shatakam. >The remaining 8 verses were added by Our Swami only for additional >enjoyment. > >Namo Narayana, > >SriMuralidhara Dasan ********************************************************************* Dear BhakthAs of ThUppul Kula maNi: adiyEn will translate the meaning of the most beautiful 100th SlOkam of SrI Daya Sathakam for completeness: Oh Mother DayA Devi (Maatha: DayE)! I have been deeply immersed in the SamsAric Ocean ; I went on losing myself in the impermanent bhOgams (SiRRinbhams)of this world . You got hold of me and blessed me with true Jn~Anam . You stirred up desire in me for Moksham. You helped me perform SaraNAgathi at Your sacred feet. I have no doubt whatsoever now in gaining Moksham , when my body falls down. There is nothing more that I need to do to realize Moksham. There is only one thing that I have to pray for , at Your Thiruvadi. That is to gain the affection of Lord SrInivAsan , who has incarnated at Thirumalai to uplift the sufferign Jeevans like us . He can bless us both here and in SrI Vaikuntam. It is my prayer that Your Lord should bless me with the equivalent of MokshAnandha anubhavam right here at His Thiruvadi as it is enjoyed by the MukthAs in Parama Padham . Oh DayA Devi! It is indeed You , who should stand in front and make this happen. Only if You have the sankalpam , I could dream of getting this aanandhAnubhavam of MukthAs right here at Your Lord's sacred feet. There is nothing else loftier than this boon to ask of You. Oh my Mother! You should help me realize this deep wish. One fascinating point is that both the 100th slOkam of DayA Sathakam and the 57th slOkam of SrI SaraNAgathi DhIpikai is set in the lilting metre of VASANTHA TILAKAM fit for dialog with the DayA SvarropiNI ,Manju BhAshiNi , Maragathavalli , the Lord's dear consort . DaasOham , V.Sadagopan
