Subject: [Oppiliappan] Guru PurNimA Day
& Thiruvaheendhrapuram MahA Mantapam for Sakala VidhyA Moorthy : Sri
HayagrIvan
SrI:
Dear Respectable
AasthikAs :
Today is Guru PoorNimA ,
when our AcAryAs start ChAthurmAsyam .
Our AchArya Bhakthi gets
reinforced by worshipping our AchAryans
on this special day . They
remove the darkness of our ignorance and
light Jn~Ana Dheepam in our
minds about our Sath SampradhAyam and
guide us safely to parama
Padham at the end of this earthly life through
the power of their
MathrOpadEsams and performance of SaraNAgathy
rites on our behalf .
In the illustrious line of
this Guru ParamparA , Swamy Desikan
stands out as the One of
the most precious AchAryAs for all
times because of His
many upakArams in general and the establishment of
SaraNAgathy Saasthram in
particular on the sound basis of Veda
PraMANams . But for His
MahOpakAram following the path of His AchAryA
and
PrAchAryas , we
shudder to think about what would have happened to
us all in this fearsome
SamsAram . Swamy Desikan's NyAsa Dasakam ,
NyAsa Vimsathy , NyAsa
Tilakam , NishEpa Raksha , Abhaya PradhAna
Saaram & other Sri
Sookthis chased away the loud Vaadhams of
the Poorva Pakshi's nine
aakshEpams
and got Him the
endearing Sahasra
Naamam of " NyAsa nishEdha
NavakAnthakan " (i-e) One who defeated
soundly the nine kinds of
objections of Poorva Pakshis on the validity of
SaraNagathy as an
UpAyam and to establish the enduring SiddhAntham
that Prapatthi /SaraNAgathy
is a direct and
powerful Moksha upAyam .
The First Guru in this illustrious
and ancient AchArya Paramaparai is
ofcourse Lord HayagrIvan , who blessed Swamy Desikan abundantly
through
His
KaruNA KatAksham and LaalAmrutham . Empowerd by this extraordinary
anugraham of the Lord of all VidhyAs , Swamy Desikan
accomplished
the
purpose of His avathAram . All this happened on top of the
Oushadha
Giri at Thiruvaheendhrapuram. The construction of the MahA
Mantapam
is to serve the BhagavathAs , who climb the steps of
OushadhAdhri
to worship Lord Hayagrivan inspite of the heat of summer ,
the pouring
rains of the monsoosn period and the chill of the winter
season .
As the
Full Moon spreads its cool rays tonight on Oushadha Giri
and
falls at the sacred feet of the Suddha Sphatika MaNimaya HayagrIvan
,
we have
every reason to celebrate our links to Sri VaishNava
SampradhAyam
and
to cherish the BhAgyam of having Swamy Desikan as our
AchAryan
who opened our eyes to the splendour of SaraNAgathy
Saasthram
and helped us to travel on the path to ArchirAdhi Maargam
to arrive at
SrI
Vaikuntam to perform Nithya Kaimakryam to the dhivya
Dampathis there
and enjoy ParipoorNa BrahmAnandham
.
For this matchless upakAram of Our
AchAryAs empowered by Lord HayagrIvan
,
the least we can do as PrathyupakAram is to make it
comfortable for the huge
ghOshti of HayagrIva BhakthAs , who climb the steps of oushadha giri at
all
seasons to have the Darsana
SoubhAgyam
of Lord HayagrIvan .
Building
Mantapams , constructing PushkaraNis
, creating Nandavanams ,
Performing
Pushpa Kaimkaryams ,
lighting dheepams and engaging in other Kaimkaryams
such as NithyArAdhanams pleases
the ThiruvuLLam of the Lord. When
Bhagavath
Kaimkaryam is
interlaced with AchArya and BhAgavatha Kaimkaryam , there is
no limit
to the glories
of such a Kaimkaryam at a dhivya dEsam . In adiyEn's
humble
opinion , the ManTapa
NirmANa Kaimkaryam at Oushadha Giri is one such
Kaimkaryam . Perhaps
at a later date , all of us can help with the construction of
a Nandha Vanam on Oushadha
Giri next to
Lord HayagrIvan's sannidhi
to grow the flowers for use
in the NithyArAdhanam of Hayavadhana
Para Brahmam
.
We need to sacrifice very
little to realize the MahA Mantapam , which will
be like a lamp on the hill
to celebrate Lord Hayagrivan for all times to come .
adiyEn indicated
earlier that a commitment of $75 or Rs.3,200 will help
create
TEN
Square Feet of
the
floor space for the Mantapam . Those who can not
set aside
Rs.3,200 or the equivalent of $75 can send whatever they
can
based on units
of Rs.320 for one Square Foot coverage . Few have
pledged
Rs.50,000 and
that helps to speed up the construction of the Mantapam
and
the 8 pillars on which the
Mantapam will rest ultimately . With Lord
HayagrIvan's
anugraham , all of us
should hope to get the Mantapam ready for use in
the PurattAsi SravaNam day
( Oct 12, 2005) for use by the BhakthAs ,
who follow Swamy Desikan on
anuyAthrA as He climbs this hill to perform
MangaLAsAsanam of Lord
HayagrIvan . Please help ; Please join
in this Kaimkaryam . adiyEn requests
you with folded hands
(anjali bhaddha hastham) to contribute your mite to
this
Kaimkaryam and send your samarpaNams
to Sri Soundararajan
Desikan , who is coordinating
the Mantapam construction
on ground at Thiruvaheendhrapuram .
His address is
You can contact him or
adiyEn to send your samarpaNams .
It is
not every day , we get a chance to participate in Kaimkaryam for Lord
HayagrIvan . All the
education that have been blessed with , the Iswaryams
that we enjoy as a direct
consequence of such an education, the honors we
recieve
in the world for erudition
, the deftness with which we speak and write
are ALL due to the tiniest
portion of the anugraham (lavalEsam) of Lord
HayagrIvan . He makes a
mute speak. He
makes a dullard transform into
a poet like KaaLidAsa.
Most of
all , He blesses us with AchArya Sambhandham
and SathsampradhAya Jn~Anam
and chases away
nescience . Let us leave
a permanent testimony of
our gratefulness to Him on the sacred hills of
Oushadagiri in the dhivya
dEsam of Thiruvaheendhrapuram .
There are 84 days left
until October 12 , when Swamy Desikan's
Thirunakshathram will be
celebrated with pomp and circumstance
on the Oushada Giri . Let
us all join together to make this kaimkaryam
a memorable event this year
and forever !
adiyEn will keep on writing
until then about the glories of Lord HayagrIvan
and the miracle that
happened at Oushadha Giri , which gave us
the Sri Sookthis of Swamy
Desikan as our Kula dhanam .
