This is a powerful SlOkam saluting the architecture
of the adhbhutha Sudarsana Yanthram.
This Yanthra Form is described in Ahirbhudhnya Samhithai . The SlOkam takes this form : GaayatryarNAra chakrE praTamamanusakha smEra pathrAravindhE BhimBam vahnEs-thrikOnam

Here , Narasimhar in the form of Sudarsanar

worshipped as Sudarsana Narasimhan . A

DhvAdasAkshara Manthram ( Om NamO BhagavathE
VaasudEVAya) . At he center of
that 12 petalled lotus , the triangular image of
Agni is drawn and consecrated . The next

drawn and is invoked to be present at the botom of
an AsOkha Vruksham and at the feet of
ChakratthAzhvAn invoked therein , two fightening
figures ( BheemAkshars) are invited to be present
. All of this constitute the Sudarsana Yanthram
inside which Lord Yoga Narasimhan Presides to
chase away all of our sorrows and fears .
The JyOthirmaya Sudarsana Narasimhan is the heart
of the Sudarsana Yanthram .
This 96th SlOkam visualizes that powerful Yanthram
. The 24 spokes of the chakram
represent the 24 aksharams of Gayathri Manthram .
The 12 petals of the Vyuha VaasudEvan are seen
furhter to represent the 12 Moorthys
from Keasavan to DhAmOdharan . The first three of
the twelve , Kesavan. NaarAyaNan and
Maadhavan are recognized as VaasudEva Vyashti
BhUthAs ; each of the three Vyashti BhUthAs
have their own Sakthis known as SrI Sakthis .
Govindhan , VishNu and Madhusoodhanan
are recognized as SankarshaNa Vyashti BhUthaas with
three VaaNi sakthis linked to them .
Thrivikraman , Vaamanan and Sridharan are present
in this dhvadasAkshari as Pradhyumna
Vyashti BhUthAs with three Vaak sakthis .
HrusheekEsan , PadhmanAbhan and DhAmOdharan
are present as Aniruddha Vyashi BhUthAs with the

Lord Sudarsana is hailed with the benedictory invocation of "Jaya Jaya Sri Sudarsana ". He is the sankalpa sakthi or the power of volition of Sriman Naarayanan. The name of Sudarsana and benefits of links
to Him The name Sudarsana means that He is the
beautiful One , who shows us the auspicious path of reaching His Lord. Those who
have sambhandham to Sudarsana Azhwaan have their paths lit to follow the way to
Sriman Naarayana. The Sudarsana Manthra japam and Sudarsana homam blesses us
with Jn~Anam and the power to be free from fears of every kind. Sudarsana Bhagavan has sixteen weapons in His hands to chase away the three kinds of thApams. He has eight arms on the right side and eight more on the left side of His body to carry these sixteen weapons for our protection. He is inside a six cornered yanthram (geomeric form of mathram ). He has multitudes of flames (JwAlais ) around this six cornered yanthram contained in a disc (nEmi). There are spokes inside that rotating disc (arams) and an axel (aksham), where Sudarsana Purushan resides. Celebrations of the Glories of
Sudarsana Sri Sudarsana SkodasAyudha sthuthi and SrI Sudarsana ashtakam composed by Swamy Desikan extolls the glories of Sudarsana BhagavAn. SrI Sudarsana Sathakam ( 100 verses ) by SrI Koora NaarAyana Jeeyar , a contemproary of AchArya RaamAnuja is another powerful Sthuthi on Lord Sudarsana and His vaibhavam. adiyEn will post articles on this powerful Sathakam ,which cured the illness of one of the five AchAryans of Bhagavath RaamAnujaa by the name of Thiruvaranga perumAL aRayar. The majestic SrI Sudarsana ashtakam of Swamyis Desikan set in the Dhruthi chandhas metre is usually recited at the end of the Sudarsana Homam as the participants go around the sacred fire pit (agni Kuntam), where the Homam was completed.Among all Swamy Desikan's sthOthram SudarsanAshtakam is the only sthOthram , where this rare metre has been used to provide ringing resonance . Sudarsanar and the
DasAvathArams During VarAhavathAram , Sudarsanar was present in the tusks of VarAha Bhagavan to destroy the Asuran , HiraNyAkshan . During NrusimhAvathAram , Sudarsanar was present as the nails in the hands of the Lord to tear apart HiraNyakasipu , who offended Bhaktha PrahlAdhan. Sudarsana BhagavAn's valor was revealed during the Lord's battle with BaaNAsuran and the Crodoile , which fought with GajEndhran. Sudarsanar was commanded by the Lord to teach Sage DhurvAsa a lesson , when that angry sage tried to insult King AmbharIsha , a dear Bhakthan of SrIman Naarayana. Sudarsana BhagavAn is hailed as " Sri Vijayavalli SamEtha SrI Sudarsana ParabrahmaNE nama:" at the end of reciting His 108 Naamams. Sudarsana
Manthram Sudarsana manthram is a powerful manthram (Sudarsana ShadAkshari) to recite and it confers auspiciousness on the reciters initiated by Sudarsana UpaasakAs and SadAchAryaas. Sudarsana manthra Japam followed by the recitation of SrI Sudarsana Shatkam (the six slOkams of Prapatthi at the sacred feet of Lord Sudarsana ) makes Lord Sudarsana appear before one and assures victory in all undertakings . DhyAnam for Sudarsana Manthra
Japam Lord Sudarsanaa is meditated in the dhyAna slOkam with His sixteen weapons (please refer to Swamy Desikan's ShOdasAyudha Sthothram for details). He is visualized inside a six cornered yatnrham with three eyes as well as with haaram and kEyUram : Sankham Chakram cha ChApam
Parasumasimisham MahA Sudarsana Homam is a powerful Homam involving the combination of sacred offerings to the consecrated fire to the accompaniement of a variety of powerful Manthrams including SrI Sudarsana ShaDAkshari , SrI Sudardsana Gaayathri , Sri Sudarsana Maala manthram , SrI Nrusimha Manthram , SrI Nrusimha Gaayathri, SrI VishNu Gaayathri , SrI Lakshmi Gaayathri , SrI Lakshmi Manthram , SrI Dhanvanthri Manthram , Paanchaajanya Gaayathri and other manthrams. Prior to this sacred homam , SrI Sudarsana Homa mahA sankalpam is made and the Lords in the form of VaruNan, Laksmi Naarayanan and Sudarsanar are invoked (aavAhanam) in a pot of water (Kumbham). In the fire, Lord Lakshmi NaarAyaNan and His Sudarsanam are invoked (Agni Prathishtai). The Homam starts thereafter to the accompaniment of 108 or 1008 repetitions (aavrutthi) of the above manthrAs punctuated by the sacred offerings into the consecrated Agni Kuntam. The Homam at the Yaaga Bhumi concludes with a PoorNAhUthi into the sacred fire. It is an auspicious sight to experience the seven tongues of Agni carrying the Havis to Lord Sudarsana and His antharyAmi, SrIman NaarAyaNa during this homam. On rare occasions, one can catch a glimpse of the disc form of Lord Sudarsana appearing in the middle of Agni Kuntam to bless the participants. The soot from the burnt offerings (Havis and PoorNaahUthi) are placed on the forehead of participants at the end of the Sudarsana Homam as a shield against every kind of inauspiciousness.
