SrI: SrImathE Gopaladesika mahadesikaya namah: Dearest Srivaishnavas, MokshAnubhavam has to be granted by Me alone - But you can get rid of paapams by praying to other demi gods [idhara devathas]; AzhwAr answers this question in the next three verses: neRRipeRRa kaNNanviNNi NnaathanOdu pOthinmEl, naRRavaththu naathanOdu maRRumuLLa vaanavar, kaRRapeRRi yaalvaNanku paatha!n^aatha! vEtha, nin paRRalaalor paRRumaRRa thuRRilEnu raikkilE. (87) Rudran- who was blessed to have the Third eye on the forehead; the Swaraat- chief of Deva- DevEndran; Chathur mukha brahmA- performing thapas on lotus flower [which sprouted out of the Navel from Lord Mahavishnu]; and other devathas (demi gods) all of them also, based on what little they know or are blessed with, prostrate at the Feet of Yours alone! Oh Sarva SwamI! Sarva SEshI! (Lord of all and Master of all)! The object and essence of Vedas! if one needs to say, it is this: But for taking refuge at Your Feet, there is no relationship or association for me at all with anyone else. Right from Chathur mukha brahmA (four faced BrahmA), Rudra and Devendran upto all demi gods, based on what little they have comprehended and realized to their capacity and limitations have praised You and prostrated at Your feet; They have not fully seen You or realized You. Thus You are the Grandest One! Lord of all! You are the Master of all! Why should I go to them when You are their Lord! why should I take refuge at them when they thesmelves are prostrating at Your feet? Even if I address You in different name (or some other name- if I need to say) it means You only. Because You are the Veda Vedhyan. One uttered by all sruthi vaakyams! Though Vedas mention other names like Siva, Indra et al, these names only mean you with Chaga pasu nyAyam. The Chaaga pasu nyaayam of poorva mimaamsa also declares that "Narayanan" is the Brahman, denoted by all common nouns (Sambhu, Siva, Hiranyagarba, Iswara, Maheswara, Sat, Aatma, Brahman, Indra, Purusha, MahaPurusha, Uttama Purusha, Staanu, Swambhu etc) in the context of cause of universe, granter of liberation etc as the name "Naaraayanan" is a particular/proper noun identifying the Lord of Lakshmi - Vishnu. [extract from Sri MS Hari's write up on Chaga pasu nyAyam] You are the in-dweller (antharyaami roopam) of these Devas and thus you are only referred to. When such is the case, when i address You straight, without any doubt on Your Supreme Lordship, how can that be equal to holding onto other demi gods? When I say KaNNA! some one may say it is neRRi kaNNan [third eye on Forehead- i.e Rudran], even to refute that and say no itself is untenable to me.. because I do not wish to give even a semblance of doubt there at all. sonnAl virOdham. the essence is that the term "Narayana" denotes the ultimate as per the shastras. Vyasa's quote might be helpful to us here - " alodya sarva shasthraani vicharya cha muhur muhuhu. idamekam sunishpannam dhyeyo narayanaha sadaa" - which means " after contemplating on all the shastras and re examining it several often one thing stands out clear (for humanity)- one should always meditate on "narayana".
