The answer, I'd say, lies only in the individual. It is quite natural for even the most robust-minded 'prappanan' to occasionally reminisce. All of us look back to the days and events of our past. It is never easy to erase one's memories completely. We may not want to be reminded of it, but we all do carry within us a deep sense of loss -- of lost time and wasted opportunity. "vAdinEn vAdi varundinEn manatthAl perun thuyar idummpayil pirandhu koodinEn koodi iLayavar thammodu avar tharum kalaviyE karuthi?" "aaviyE! amudE! ena ninainthu urugI avar-avar paNai mulai thuNaiyAyp pAvIyEn uNarAthu etthanai pagalum pazhuthupOy Ozhinthana nAttkkal?" (tirumangai-AzhwAr "periya-tirumOzhi" 1.1) The expression "pAvIyEn uNarAthu etthanai pagalum pazhuthupOy Ozhinthana nAttkkal?" applies equally to everyone, doesn't it? Even to the 'prappanna', wouldn't you agree? It is useful to reflect upon and even re-live the 'nirvEdam' moments of such pAsurams. It is good to recollect the wretched condition of our past and compare it with the healthy condition of the present ("post-prappatti") moment. If I remember the mistakes of my past, chances are good I will never repeat them in future. Trust you will find adiyane's answer useful if not convincing.
