Dear sri vaishNava perunthagaiyeer,
As a rejoinder to what Sri "M.K. krishnaswamy" <krishnaswamy@xxxxxxxxxxx>wrote
on this topic of manam vazhangu - 'donating the heart' - the 'kaNdavar tham
manam vazhangum thiruk kaNNapuraththu Lord', I would like to add the following.
As usual I was away from my home on a business trip for a period, during which
I saw the mail of Sriman Krishnaswamy, but could not make up my draft to post
to the list. My sincere apologies are offered to you all for this delay.
Sri ooththukkadu vEnkata kavi OVK, whose song is what Sri MKK swamin quoted,
has written three more beautiful songs on that thiruk kaNNapuram lord Sri Sowri
Raajan. In these songs sri OVK states that he takes the heart out of us, we the
'seers'- kaNdavar.
The first song now:
raaga husEni aadhi thaaLam
pallavi:
kai varisai kaattaadheer kaNNapuram agalaadha sree sowri raaja
anupallavi:
mei varisai vanamaalai migu thEnai uNdu

charaNam:

tharaLamaana maalaigal aadavum
vizhi Odiya sevvari koodavum
kuRunagai aadiyum kuRumbu niRai kannam
kuzhi thadandha magara kundalam aadiyum
nadandhu vandhu uLam kavarndhu koLLavum -- kai varisai
Please see the lines
* he comes walking in a beautiful way nicely decorated
* walks to do what is the question here
* to steal our heart - ulam kavarndhu kollavum
* when we see him we donate our heart to him?
* or does he steal our heart by his walk and his decoration
That is a big question?
Next song: Raaga bilahari misrachaapu thaalam
Pallavi:
vandhaarOdee neela vaNNath thirumEni koNda
kaNNapuraththaarum ingE vanthaarOdee
anupallavi:
senthaamarai annam innam sirikkudhE
sikhandi innam thOgai virikkudhE

charaNam:

yadhu kula naayagan en naayagan
parama aanandham tharu nandha kumaaran
sindhai pera vandha kichOran
navaneedham kalividu chOran - vandhaarOdee
Just enjoy the words here - the poet says
* he sees the heart of the devotee - manam kaNdu
* isaiyaal uLam aLandhu - he measures our heart with his flute music
* gives a lot of supreme happiness - parama aanandham tharu nandha
kumaaran
* came to take away the heart - that thief of heart - sindhai pera vandha
kichOran.
Who is that - that my 'krishNa' - kaNNapuraththu sowri raajaa -
Next song:
Raaga kamaas aadhi thaalam
Pallavi:

anupallavi:

charaNam:

kaaNaadhavaL enRa chiththamO kaLvanum neeyum poruththamO
naaN pooNaadhu pOnaal varuththamO
kannapuraththaanin mEl kaadhal piththamO - vidindhadhu pOdee
See here the friend [or servant] girl decorates the heroine for she has seen
the lord sowriraajan came nicely decorated. So the friend also decorates her
madam to be a matching ladylove or bride / girl to that lord. But the heroine
is not having the patience for she wants to send the friend [or servant] on a
mission of informing the lord that my heart is already lost to you.
These all lead that once the bhakthaas see that sowriraaja the heart is lost to
him - so kaNdavar tham manam vazhangiyE theeravENdum - so dear bhakthaas please
donate your heart to that sowriraaja if not already done.

Subject: 'manam vazhangu'
Dear Bhaktas, Shriman Vasudevan's post on losing our hearts to Krishna was
excellent ("manam vazhangu"). I was hearing a song melodiously sung by Sudha
Raghunathan
(Kuzhal oothi manam ellaam koLLai konda pinnar, kuRai ethum enakku Ethadi) and
I wondered: why not allow ourselves to become His Flute and let Him play divine
music through every action of ours.
A short note from me on this with the music embedded at:
http://home.comcast.net/~surfings/Fullness.htm
The text of the Note is reproduced below. The music can be separately heard at:
http://home.comcast.net/~surfings/kuzhaloothi.mp3
Krishnaswamy M.K.
It is He who blows the first breath of life into us;
it is He who determines the last breath of our life.
May be, we should allow him to take us as His flute
and play the sweet song of our entire life.
This sentiment is expressed beautifully in the song:
Kuzhal oothi manam ellam koLLai konda pinnar
kuRai Ethum enakku Ethadi
Tired of this stressful life and senseless persuits?
Come; let us surrender to our dear Lord Krishna!
Let us place our ego as the flute in His hands.
Our every action will then becomes a note
in the music that He will gladly play through us.
Then, where will there be place in our mind
for wants and wishes that ceaselessly haunt us?
We can blissfully chant thenceforth with faith: I am wanting in nothing; I am
full; I am full; I am full. OM! Poornamidam!
