SrI:
SrImathE Gopaladesika mahadesikaya namah:

Dearest Srivaishnavas,

EmperumAn Sriya: Pathi Sriman Narayanan is unbiased
and impartial to all. If devotees pray to Him and act
in accordance with saastrAs, which too are His
command, they are all recipient of His Grace. No doubt
about it. The enemy bANAsura was later conferred with
all good by the Lord after the battle due to His mercy
and tremendous compassion. See and realize that Sriman
Narayanan alone is our Lord and take refuge at His
feet. dhEvAnAm dhAnavAnAm Cha saamaanyamaDhi
dhaivatham- says jitanthE sthOthra.

bANAsura, angered on the girl Usha who had fallen in
love with Aniruddhan (grandson of KaNNan), picked up a
battle with KaNNan and had all his thousand shoulders
cut by Him. On the same day (time), the shaved-off
headed, the ash laden bodied Rudran and his sons
(Vinayaka and Subramanya), the Rudra jwara devatha
(Durga), their ally Fire, et al had come in support of
the asurA and were chased away by KaNNan running away
showing their backs. When KaNNan started attacking
bANAsura, his mother Kodari (Durga) came naked in
front of KaNNan (to distract Him and to make Him feel
shy), KaNNan looked away (as expected by Durga) and
bANAsura fled? [Later KaNNan searched fro the asurA
and started cutting his shoulders and spared his life]

Such is the most wonderful Lord KaNNan ? Ascharya
purushan ? the Only One whom we should take refuge. He
is the One who took pity and showed mercy on the
bANAsura and saved his life.

Angered by his daughter Usha (who had arranged to
bring her lover Aniruddhan to her harem with the help
of her friend Chithra lekha) bANAsura tied down
Aniruddhan and went for a battle (with the support of
Rudran and his family). When everyone else fled, and
bANAsura was about to lose and get killed, his mother
(axe) appeared naked in front of KaNNan. What terrible
warriors! They take all sorts of measures! KaNNan felt
ashamed and shy for fighting against them and except
for his natural two hands, cut all other ~thousand
shoulders. Who else but KaNNan can be so merciful!

mundane- shaved off headed;
niRan- ash colured ? ash laden bodied

Rudran was made to yawn with jrumbakAsthra;
Subrahmanya and Vinayaka were robbed off their
ahankAram with the hmmmm (hoonkAram) of KaNNan and of
GarudA..

Veppu- the hot, three legged, three headed mahEswara
jwaram- a personification of fever with three heads
and three legs- approached Lord Krishna to fight Him.
KaNNan, seeing the mahEswara jwaram, sent from his
body- Vaishnava jwaram which overpowered Siva jwara.
Siva jwara surrended to the Lord and was even granted
boons.

naaNi- shy, ashamed. What a shame! We have fought
against such dhurbalars (weak enemies) ! Also they
take such lowly measures to appear as naked in the
battle field! The God herself is the mother. Hence
mother appeared naked meaning durga appeared. The
Kodari (Axe); bANAsura?s actual mother?s name is
asasani (in sixth skandham of Bhagawatha) Kodari is
thus durga (read 53rd verse also)

Srimad Bhagawatha (10-63 verse 20)

bANAsura?s mother Kotari appeared before KaNNan naked
(in order to save her son).
Vishnu purANAm also mentions this.

Later Maheswara came back, praised Him with verses
seeking his forgiveness to spare bANAsura?s life.

Namo Narayana
