SrI:

 Dear BhakthAs:

Today , we will study the Seventh to the tenth paasuram of
Thirumangai on ThirukkOttiyUrAn .With this final posting , we will
conclude the extraordinary anubhavam of visiting many dhivya dEsams
in the context of the Thiruvajeendhrapuram RathnAngi
SamarpaNa Uthsavam.

Paasuram 7 on ThirukkOttiyUrAn
************************************
KanRu koNdu vilankani yeRinthu aaniRaiku azhivu yenRu
mAmazhai ninRu kAtthu uhanthAn NilamAhatkiniyAn
kunRin Mullayin vaasamum kuLir maNamum aLainthu
iLam tenRal vanthu ulavum ThirukkOttiyUrAnE

(Extended Meaning ): The Lord of ThirukkOttiyUr is the One ,
who threw VathsAsuran -- who had taken the guise of a calf--
at another asuran , who had taken the form of ViLAm pazham
and killed both of them at the same time . He is the One , who took
delight at protecting the Gopaas and Gopis and their cattle
against the anger of Indhran through the assumption of
the form of Govardhana Giridharan . He protected them all
by lifting and holding Govardhana Giri as an umbrella against
the vicious hail storm directed by the king of DEvAs . He is
the heart throb of BhUmi PirAtti. His dhivya dEsam is
the place , where the fragrances of the mountain Mullai and
Mallikai flowers are blend and are wafted around by
the gentle breeze.

(Comments): The references are to Indhra's anger and the subsequent
humiliation of Indhran by the Lord which culminated in Govindha
PattAbhishEkam performed by a chastened Indharan . The other reference
is to BhUmi DEvi , who took on the guise of a cow and prayed to Her Lord at
the Milky Ocean to come to Her rescue in reducing the burden of
adharmikaas on Earth . The Lord of ThirukkOttiyUr in His avathAram
as KrishNa , the cowherd responded to His Devi's appeal
and got rid of wicked ones during the MahA BhAratha Yuddham.

Paasuram 8:
*************
poonkurunthu ositthu aanai kaaynthu ari maa sehutthu adiyEnai
aaLUhanthu yeengu yennuL puhunthAn ImayOrkaL tamm PerumAn
thoongu taNN pala inkani thohu vAzhayin kaniyOdu maankani
tEngu taNN punal soozh ThirkkOttiyUrAnE

(Extended Meaning): Three heroic acts of Baala KrishNan
at BrundhAvanam and Vada Mathurai are referred to by Kaliyan
here. One is the destruction of the asuran , who took the form of
a blossoming Kurunthai tree and waited to kill Baala KrishNan .
The Lord destroyed that asuran efortlessly. The second heroic act
was the destruction of another asuran sent by Kamsan as a speeding
horse . Our Lord grabbed this horse rushing towards Him and tore it
into two with a grip on its jaws . The third heroic act took place in
the capitol of Kamsan ( Mathurai) , where our Lord killed the royal
elephant( Kubalayapeetam ) that was goaded by the maahut
to attack youthful KrishNan . Kaliyan is proud to acknowledge
the Lord of DevAs was pleased to enter his dirty body (azhukku
udampu) and stay there as antharyAmi Brahman . The abundance
of seasonal waters at ThirukkOttiyUr is saluted by Kaliyan as
he looks around to witness the giant jack fruits hanging from
the trees , the rows and rows of ripe bananas and large amounts
of ripe Mangoes . Kaliyan seems to offer three kinds of NaivEdhyam
with three different fruits to thank the Lord for His three heroic
acts to get rid of His three attackers .

(Comments): The essence of AshtAkshara manthram is blended
with AntharyAmi Brahmam concept of BruhadhAraNyaka upanishad
is celebrated by Kaliyan with the choice of the Paasuram words:
" Yeengu yennuL puhunthAn " . The anupravEsam of the Lord
inside the daharAkasam ( heart lotus space )and the residence there
as the protector and the commander of the Jeevan is indicated here
( poorvOthpannEshu BhUthEshu tEshu tEshu kalou Prabhu: ,
anupravisya kuruthE Yath sameehitham Achyutha: ) .

Paasuram 9
**************
kOavi inn Tamizh paaduvAr kudam aaduvOr
tada maamalar misai mEvu nAnn maRaivANar
Eivahai vELvi aaRangam vallavar thozhum
dEva dEvappirAn ThrukkOttiyUrAnE

(Extended Meaning ): Here , the dhivya dEsam of the Lord of
DEvAs ( Soumya NaarAyaNan) is identified as the place of
residence of great Vedic scholars ( Masters of the four Vedams
and their six angams) as well as the Brahmins , who are experts
in performing the five kinds of great Yaj~nams ( Pancha Mahaa
Yaj~nams). It is also the preferred place of residence of
those who sing sweetly the paasurams of AzhwArs and those
who dance the pot dance to relive KrishNa's pot dance aeons ago
at the intersection of streets. The residents of this dhivya dEsam
of Soumya NarayaNan look more lustrous to Kaliyan than Brahma DEvan
Himself .

Paasuram 10:
***************

aNi pozhil selkaL paay kazhanit-ThirukkOttiyUrAnai
neela maa muhil vaNNanai NedumAlai inn TamizhAl
ninaintha innAlum aaRum vallArkku idamAhum vaanulahamE

( Extended Meaning): These ten verses composed by Thirumangai
AzhwAr known for his equestarian skills in controlling the dancing
horse are on the Lord of ThirukkOttiyUr with verdant groves and
fields of rice filled with running fish . These ten paasurams on
the Lord of ThirukkOttiyUr with the hue reminiscent of NeelOthpalam
flower and dark clouds of the rainy season will reserve a place
in Sri Vaikuntam for those who recite it and comprehend their
meanings .

Thus ended adiyEn's pilgrimage to ThirukkOttiyUr and thereafter
the stops were at Thiruvaheendhrapuram . The Pictorial record of
the RathnAngi SamarpaNam and all the postings leading to
that memorable event are archived at :

It has been most enjoyable to share with you these
intensive travel anubhavams to number of dhivya dEsams
during the week long trip to India .
