Eggs or
Pearls?
The pearls are born out of its
chanku or nathai. These are ready to be born any time. The bullocks which go
front and back on the fields for cultivation, brush on these and the perals are
born which are spred hither and thither.
The kurugu-the nArai variety of bird- on
spotting these bright white pearls mistake these for their eggs and fly
everywhere, only to realise that these are not their eggs but rich
pearls.
AzhwAr, thus describes the richness of the
divya-dEsam, in the second part of the second pAsuram of 'kAzhich sErAma viNNagaram'. In the first pAsuram the
meticulous following of scriptures and practices was described. In this pAsuram,
the cultivation and wealth is described.
