thiru voi mozhi
nURRandhAdhi
Apart from the subject matter which emanates from
the poet, the poet has to conform his creation to the grammar. This in itself is
a great thing.
However, periya jEyar had the following conditions
while creating thiru-voi-mozhi nURRandhAdhi
1. It has to begin with the first syllable of the
ten pAsuram-s.
2.It has to contain the essence of these ten
pAsuram-s
3.The last word has to be the last word of the ten
or say 11 pAsuram-s
Incidentally, since thiru voi mozhi is also thiru
andhAdhi, this also becomes thiru vandhAdhi.
4. It has to talk about the great author of thiru
voi mozhi namely swAmi nam AzhwAr.
Can this be man made? Definitely such type of
creative works are God-blessed.
thiru voi mozhi nURRandhAdhi pasuram 1 thus
represents the first ten of thiru voi mozhi, pasuram 2 the second ten pAsuram-s
and so on till the final pAdhigam -muniyEA .
The first pAsuram of thiru voi mozhi nURRandhAdhi
is:
"vuyarvE paran padiyai vuLLadhellAm
thAn kaNdu,
vuyar vEdham nEAr koNdu
vuRaithu,
mayaRvEdhum vArAmal mAnidarai
vAzhvikkum mARan sol,
vErAgavE viLaiyum
vEdu"
How the above conditions are
fulfilled.
1. The pAsruam starts with the word
"vuyarvE" which is also the first word of the first ten
pAsuram-s of thiruvoizhmozhi being
"vuyarvaRa" thiru
voi mozhi 1-1-1
2.The meaning of this thiru voi mozhi nURRandhAdhip
pAsuram clearly explains that the Lord is being seen in the light of the
scriptures and that He is omnipresent, He is full of auspicious qualities, He is
the supreme being, He is explained as per the scriptures - vuLan
sudar migu surudhiyuL-1-1-7 of thiru voi mozhi
3. The pAsruam ends with the word "vEdu" which the
last word of the first eleven pAsuram-s and first word of the second eleven
pAsuram-s namely -:"vEdumin muRRavum" 2-1-1 of thiru
voi mozhi.
4. The words in the fourth line "mAnidarai
vAzhvikkum mARan sol" praises swAmi nam
AzhwAr.
