Dear DEvotee :
The lions are the symbol of Pallava
Kings
who were engaged in Temple(Vimana)
renovation . It has nothing to do as
some
believe that the Temple originally was
that of DEvi (Sakthi Or the Temple of
SaakthAs).

Subject: [Oppiliappan] A Query
Dear Devotees,
I have a small query. The 'Ananda Nilayam' of Lord Srinivasa of Tirumala
has 4 lions surrounded on the top (4 corners). Our Sri Vaishnava temples
generally have 'Periya Thiruvadi - Garudazhwar' on the four sides of the
Sanctum Sanctorium. I wish to know why lions are placed at Tirumala.
I understood that the followers of other schools tried to degrade
the scancity of our Thirumala and all their evil efforts were vanquished
by Sri Bhashyakarar.
Do the lions represent the commotion at that period? I am asking this
question out of ignorance. Learned members, please clarify.
Best Regards,
Jayakrishna DaAsan.
