AchAryan
Sishyan
Conflict of
interest: In the auditing profession the auditor should now owe more
than Rs 1000 to the auditee. The reason is
that, this will result in lack of
independance, vested interest and conflict of interest.
This was drafted in the Indain Comanies
Act several years back.
However, this concept has been devised by
Sri PiLLai LOkAchAryA several hundred years back.
The AchAryan should not take anything from
Sishyan -which the sihsyan thinks that it is his.
Normally, the Sishyan dedicates all the
wealth in his possession at the feet of his AchAryan. -Refer to NanjEyar's
history who deidcated his wealth to bhaTTar. Notwithsatanding this, if still if
he keeps something as his, the AchAryan should not take
that.
Apart from the vested/conflict of interest
mentioned hereinabove, there is another major srEvaishNavic factor that is
explained by Periya jEyar.
The AchAryan who has undaunting faith on
the Lord Almighty, also has immense belief that the God out of mercy, bequeaths
all the wealth and fulfills all the needs to sustain his life in the
world Thus the feeling that he is complete in all respects springs from
this faith and belief. If the AchAryan takes something from Sishyan -whcih the
Sishyan thinks that is his - then the faith in the Lord that He will lead
the life of AchAryan complete in all respects falls like pack of cards.
That is why, it has been stressed that the
AchAryan should not take anything from the Sishayn which he thinks that it is
his.
Conclusion: The manner in which an AchAryan should
conduct himself has been discussed briefly based on the chUrnaikAs from
SrEvachana bhUshaNam.
IN a nutshell, the AchAryan should always consider himself
as an extending arm of his AchAryan while imparting knowledge to the sishyan.
The Grace on the sishyan befalls with the help of the Almighty. However, the
hithOpadhEsam is the prme aim of the AchAryan. AchArayn is one who preaches the
Thirumandhiram with the sole purpose of removing the immersion into samsAram.
The AchAryan shoud sustain himself with
his wealth - all the wealth of sishyan is dedicated to him ones it is
surrendered - However, he should not take anything which the sishyan has
attachment towards.
I thank Smt Jayshree Saranathan and Sri
Sadagopan swamy for having given me this opportunity to write on this
subject.
