Sri:

Dear BhakthAs of Sri Lakshmi Nrusimhan :

Today , we wil focus on two more Lakshmi Sahasra SlOkams
that celebrate Her Naama Vaibhavam .

May the power of those Naamams shower Kanaka DhArA
for Srimath Azhagiya Singar's Thirunakshathra Uthsavam !

Power of SrI Naamam : Ishta Kaamya Siddhi granting Names
******************************************************************************
yO vakthi Devi padham yEkam-api Thvadheeyam
sarvANi tasya hrudhi bhAnthi sadhA padhAni
nithyOnnathO nrupathirEva vaSeekruthascchEth
    kimkurvathE purajanA: ithi ka: prayathna:

Special Observations
****************************
(1) Oh DEvi ! For any one , who utters even one of Your Names
( Ya: Thvadheeyam padham yEkam api vakthi) , all words/speech
will always manifest themselves in his mind ( Tasya hrudhi sarvANi
padhAni sadhaa bhAnthy).

(2) When all these right words appear on a cue thru the utterance of
even one of Your limitless names , then the utterer has the power
to become an Aasu kavi ( a poet , who composes poems instantaneously) .
Once one masters the recitation of even one of Your sacred names ,
all speech (Vaak ) will come under his power (aadheenam) .

(3) For power over words , for mastery as a speaker or efficacy as
an illustrious kavi , SrI Naamams will empower one .When SrI Naamams
are  mastered , then every other word will respond with alacrity and fall
in line , one after the other .

(4) Padham means Naamam ( soll ) . Padham also means Padhavi or position
( sTAnam) . In the latter intrepretaion , Brahma Padham , Indhra Padham
or even Parama Padham will come the way of One , who recites even
one name of SrI Devi .

(5) The poet gives an example  to show how that disproportionate reward happens :
" NithyOnnatha: Nrupathi: yEva vaSeekrutha: chEth , purajanA: kimkurvathE
ithi ka: prayathna? " . Here , the poet asks a rhetorical question , which has its
own answer . There is a king , who has always an exalted status ( NithyOnnatha:
Nrupathi asthi) . When one gets that exalted king himself under one's control ,
the citizens of that king become automatically one's vidhEyars / servants .
"NrupathrEva vaSeekrutha: chEth , PurajanA: ( Citizens) kimkurvathe (serve)
ithi ka: prayathna:(Special effort )  ? When the Master (King) is under one's control ,
why worry about taking any special effort to make the citizens obey one ?
No prayathnam (effort) is needed then . PurajanAms will follow the lead of
the Nrupathi . Similarly the Mastery of one of the names of the SarvalOkEswari
will bring under one's influence all the other servants of Hers .

The NaamAs of MahA Lakshmi ripening one's good fortunes
******************************************************************************
In this slOkam , VenkatAdhri Kavi states that the utterance of Lakshmi's
NaamAs result in the perfection of one's bhAgyams :

KshamA-nidhE ! yamyadhipa-abhidhEyam
vachO-vidhEyam Tava NaamdhEyam
PadmAlayE Yasya guNOdhadhEyam
pachELimam vindhathi bhAgadhEyam

Special Comments :
**************************
A. In this beautiful slOkam , the word dhEyam is woven in six times
either as a self-standing word or as a sandhi :

(1) NaamadhEyam = Name or Peyar in Tamil
(2) bhAgadhEyam =  Good Fortune or adhrushtam
(3) (VachO) VidhEyam = One who has Your name as Mukhastham
or has one of Your name under the influence of his speech
(4)( Yami-adhipa) abhidhEyam = fit for the king of SanyAsis to utter
(5) GuNaO-dhadhEyam = this Ocean of KalyANa guNams
(6) KshamAnidhE-yami can be split in to Kshamaa nidhEyam

B. The Musical effect of reciting this slOkam is beautiful as in the case of
one of the VairAgya Panchaka slOkams , where Swamy Desikan uses
the word " dhanam " melliflously many times in the same slOkam .

C. In this slOkam , the Kavi addresses MahA Lakshmi as " KashamA NidhE "
and "GuNOdhadhE " . She is the treasure (nidhi) of Kshamaa ( Forbearance).
She is also (kalyANa) GuNOdhadhi ( Ocean of GuNams) .

D. She is saluted as well as " PadhmAlayE " ( One who has Her abode in the Lotus).

E. Kavi points out that Her auspicious names are appropriate / fit  for utterances by
the highest among the Yathis ( Yami adhipa abhidhEyam Tava nAmadhEyam) .

F. Kavi reveals that for one who has Her NaamadhEyam under the control of
his tongue (Yasya vachOvidhEyam )  gains the ripe (PachELimam) good fortunes
(BhAgadhEyam ) of every kind ( ayam   pachELimam bhAgadhEyam vindhathi).

G. Such is the power of  Japam of MahA Lakshmi's NaamAs !

H.  Yami adhibha or the Leader among the Yathis can refer to Maharishi SanathkumArar
or Swamy AlavanthAr or YathirAjar (Udayavar) . Swamy AlavanthAr was the first
among AchAryAs , who composed ChathusslOki , the poem celebrating the power of
Lakshmi's NaamAs . YathirAjar performed SrI DEvi SaraNAgathy in His Gadhyam
by addressing Her as " Akhila JaganmAtharam , asman Maatharam , Bhagavathy
      et al .

J. PachELimam:  Our  PuNyams reach a ParibhAga nilai ( ripened state) /pachELima
state , when we utter the sacred names of MahA Lakshmi and blesses us with
all kinds of good fortunes ( BhAgadhEyams).
