Dear BhakthAs: SrImathi Sumithra Varadarajan's posting reminded me of the entire text of Aarthi Prabhandham with detailed commentary in the special home pages that Both SrI Haresh Balasubramanyam of Singapore and adiyEn created for the 1999 Thirunakshathram of Swamy MaNavALa Maamunigal. The URL is: http://mamunigal.freeservers.com (for the Home pages) http://mamunigal.freeservers.com/aarti.html ( For the article on Aarthi prabhandham by U.Ve. T.A. Srinivasan Swamy of Kaanchipuram written on the Udayavar's Thirunakshathram in the year 2000 ). Aarthi Prabhandham is one of the most moving prabhandhams. Please enjoy it. Adiyen just wanted to add Sri Manavala mamunigal's excellent paasurams explaining the soul's journey to SriVaikundam after crossing the virajA nadhi in his "Arthi prabandham". >"pOm vazhiyai tharumennum enbhamellam > pusiththu vazhi pOi amudha virasai Attril > nAm moozhgi malamattru thelivisumbhai > nanni nalanthigazh mEnithannai pettru > thAm amarar vandhedhir kondu alangariththu > sarkarippa mAmani mandapaththu sendru > mAmalarAl kOn madiyil vaiththuhakkum vAizhvu > namakku ethirAsar arulum VazhvE" (20) >Arthi prabandham is the last prabhandam of Sri MAmunigal. In the last part of his life mAmunigal was a little sick and was unable to do bhagavat kainkaryam. Being a prapannan how could he stay without kainkaryam? And hence Sri MAmunigal cried in his Arthi(sorrow), which came out as Arthi prabhandam. In this prabandam, Sri MAmunigal shows all the divine arthas of Srivaishnavism. He shows how an acharyan alone can take us to the divine feet of the emperuman. In no place has he even by mistake, forgotten his acharya sambandam and he cries only to his acharya Ramanuja to do purushakAram and take him to the divine abode of emperuman. >In the above paasuram he tells us, the greatness of Ramanuja sambandham and what it can give to us. It gives us everything including the life in moksha. >Meaning: On the way to the moksha there are other deva lokas where the soul is invited with respect. He then crosses all of them and reaches the viraja river which is the entrance to the moksha mandalam. Then the soul dips deep into the river and sheds all his dirt. The soul thereby is purified and attains a divine sareeram. The nithya sooris come and welcome the soul with great respect and decorate him like a new bride. The soul then enters the mAmani mandapam where the emperuman along with his pirattis is waiting to place this soul on his lap. Such is the life given to us by our acharya ramanuja says Sri manavAla MAmunigal >In another paasuram(23) he explains about the beautiful mAmani mandapam. In the above paasuram, he told us all that Sri ramanuja is capable of granting us the moksham. In another paasuram he requests the acharya to grant him the same as soon as possible. The paasuram goes as follows: >"Endha vudal vittu eravu mandalath thoodEgi > evvandangkazhiththu edaiyil Avaram Aizh pOi >andhamil pAzh kadandhu azhagAr virasai thanil kuliththu > angu amAnavanAl oli konda jhOdhiyum pettru >amarar vandhu edhir kondu alangariththu vAzhthi vazhi nadaththa > vaikundam pukku manimandapaththu sendru >nan thirumAl adiyArgal kuzhAngaludan kOOdum > nAlenakku kurugum vagai nalgu en ethirAsA" (24) >In this paasuram Sri mAmunigal says that after crossing the viraja he wants to go and join the thirumAl adiyars who are enjoying and doing kainkaryam to the bhagavan in the mAmani mandapam. Here he shows how the bhAgavata sambandam is very important to a Srivaishnava. Andal says, "koodiyirundhu kulirinthElOre empAvAi". We should enjoy even bhagavan only along with other bhagavatas and not alone that is why andal wakes up all the gopis in aiypadi before going to do the nOmbhu in thiruppAvai. Sri Mamunigal says it is true even in Srivaikundam. Even there we should not enjoy or do bhagavat kainkaryam alone instead we have to join the bhAgavata ghosti. >Each paasuram of mAmunigal's Arthi prabhadam has very deep meanings pertaining to our Srivaishnava philosophy. It is really a treat to enjoy each one of them. >Alwar emperumAnAr jeeyer thiruvadigalE sharaNam >Adiyen Ramanuja Dasyai >Sumithra Varadarajan. >
