SrI:

Dear SrI Sudarshan :

In respponse to your question listed at
the end of this note, here is my response.

All SthOthrAs of Swamy Desikan are
appropriate for recitation by ladies and girls
and particularly SrI , BhU , GOdhA Sthuthis
as well as GopAka Vimsathy , KaamAsika ashtakam
and DasAvathAra SthOthram.

Same for the ChathuslOki of Swamy AlavanthAr ,
SrI Sthavam of Swamy Kuresar , SrI GuNa Rathna Kosam of
Swamy ParAsara Bhattar ,Swamy Desikan's SrI RanganAtha
PaadhukA Shasram et al. Dhivya Prabhandham is a vast
open field for ladies to recite and particularly ThiruppAvai
and NaacchiyAr Thirumozhi.

Each AchArya paramparai has taken a stand on
what coluld be recited without trying to
discriminate against one sex or other.
Our Parama KaaruNika AchAryAs are interested
in every one of their sishyAs. This is for sure .

We are in a dharma Sankadam situation ,
when we take a stand against the traditions
established by our particular AchArya paramaparai
and the traditions followed there . As long as
one's AchAryan serves as a referee in these
delicate matters , we have to abide by their
rulings for reasons clear to them from the context
of our welfare. They are not hesitant to explain
the reasons for their stand. Please request individual
AchAryA's for help in resolving this doubt about the correctness
of reciting or not reciting SrI VishNu Shasra Naamam
by ladies and girls in the PaarAyaNam mode .

Since we have had a very informative dialog on
this controversial topic so far , the Oppiliappan
List will leave it to the members to recieve guidance
on this important subject from their AchAryAs directly
and closes this thread.

Thanks very much for your particpation in this thread ,
