SrI :
Dear BhakthAs of Swamy Desikan :
This is the important day of AvaNi Hastham
.
This day is important for three
reasons.
1. MukkUr Azhagiya Singar's Thiru
Nakshathram
*********************************************************
It is the Thirunakshathram (birth day)
of
HH the 44th Jeeyar of Ahobila Matam,
SrI Vedantha Desika YathIndhra MahA
Desikan alias MukkUr Azhagiya Singar.
This is the celebrated Jeeyar , who built
the tallest Raaja Gopuram for Lord
RanganAtha
at the Lord's command. He observed 35
ChAthurmAsyams
during His reign as SrI Lakshmi Nrusimha
dhivya PaadukA Sevakar and Ahobila Mata
PeetAdhipathi.
Day of Saama UpAkarma
******************************
It is also the day of Saama UpAkarma .
Let us invoke the prayer of a Saama Veda
Hymn
in the context of today's posting:
Yadhindhra citra maiha nAsti
tvAdAtAmadrivah
rAdhAstanno vidadvasa ubhayaa hastyaA bhara
---PoorvArchika Saaman: 345, Rg Vedam:
V.39.1
(meaning): " Oh Mysterious and wonderful Lord! Oh
Wielder of
"adamantine Justice " ! Oh Supreme Lord
of invaluable treasures !
May Thou with both of Your hands shower onus all
the wealth
that You have meant for us as a bounty . Please
bless us
with this generous anugraham.
3. The avathAram of the Two Taniyans
*********************************************
It is the day , when the First Brahama Tantra Svatanthra Jeeyar
of ParakAla Matam presented the famous Taniyans for His
Two AchAryAs , Swamy Desikan and Sri KumAra VaradAchAr .
These are " the RaamAnuja DayaapAthram" and
"SrImallakshmaNa "
Taniyans , which are used by followers of
Swamy Desika SampradhAyam.
4. Sankalpam for this Holy Day
************************************
As the ThiruvahIndhrapuram RathnAngi Kaimkaryam for
Lord DevanAthan
is going through critical times , adiyEn felt that the best way to progress
on
this Kaimkaryam is to have a special samarpaNam to
Lord DevanAthan .
This SamarpaNam will be the translations of the 405
Paasurams of
Desika Prabhandham. May Swamy Desikan
bless this Kaimkaryam
and give His benedictions to the RathnAngi
Kaimkaryam for His dearest
Lord of ThiruvahIndhrapuram. Thirty five years ago
, SrImath Andavan
aasramam presented a beautiful RathnAngi for
Swamy Desikan , which
we have the good fortune to enjoy on PurattAsi
SravaNam days on Swamy
Desikan's ThirumEni . Vaikunta Vaasi Villur Aasu
Kavi Srinidhi
Swamy composed 100 slOkams on the RathnAngi
Sevai of Swamy
Desikan.
It is adiyEn's prayer that all bhakthAs will join in this important and
once in a life time kaimakryam for Adiyavarkku Meyyan (Natha Sathyan)
of ThiruvahIndhrapuram and expedite its progress.
adiyEn hesitates to remind
the BhakthAs often . adiyEn is going to complete
the series and leave it
to Bhagavath Sankalpam to assemble the needed
funds to complete
this kaimkaryam before SvabhAnu SrI Vaikunta
EkAdasi day .

The text of Desika Prabhandham is available at
Srivaishnava.com pages
maintained with great care by SrI Venkat of
Bahrain. Hence adiyEn will
not hence reproduce the Prabhandha Paasurams.adiyEn
is hopeful that

intrepretation
of the SrI Sookthis of Swamy

is also aimed (1) to address the information needs
of those , who may not be familiar
with the great contributions in Tamil by Swamy
Desikan on deep VedAnthic
doctrines and
(2) to familiarize Desika Prabhandhamfor the benefit of those
,
whose mother tongue
may not be Tamil.

6. Concluding Observations
********************************
The scope and range of coverage of Swamy
Desikan's 19 Prabhandhams
are wide and deep. They deal with Dhivya Desams,
AchAryans, AzhwArs ,
Prapatthi as UpAyam and Prapannan's conduct ,
Tatthva Thrayam ,
ArTa Panchakam , Dhivya Prabhandhams, the
Three Rahasyams ,
VaishNava SampradhAyam , AahAra Niyamam , the
Twelve names of
the Lord , Pancha Kaala PrakriyA , Aagamams and Masterly Critique of
other Mathams and the defense of the Parama
Vaidhika Matham of
VisishtAdhvaitham .
Vast indeed is the scope of Swamy Desikan's
Prabhandhams ,
which have to be studied along with His Chillarai
Rahasyams
and Srimath Rahasya Thraya Saaram as MaNi PravALa
granthams
and Tamil SrI Sookthis.
adiyEn will give the condensed meanings of
individual Paasurams of
the 19 Prabhandams and request SrI Thirukkudanthai
Rengarajan
to augment this kaimkaryam with detailed
articles on his anubhavam of
individual paasurams at a convenient
time.
May SrI HemAbhjavalli SamEtha
SrI DevanAthan bless this Kaimkaryam,
Swamy Desikan ThiruvadigaLE SaraNam
,
SrImath Azhagiya Singar Thiruvadi , Oppiliappan
