It is known to one and all that sri parthasarathy
is the prime presiding deity in thiruvallikkEANi. He is the one for the
'puRappAdu' for Ekadhasi or amAvAsyai. Any other important events He is given
preference to others like narashimhA, rangA , rAmar or
varadhar.
Next in the list is sri narasimhA who has got a
big brahmOtsavam for Him also, like parthasarathy and has a big fan
club.
The thiruvallIkkEani em-perumAn-s are sung with
devoiton by sri kaliyan in the third thiru-mozhi of the second ten. "viRperu-villum, kanjanum , mallum, vEAzhamum,pAganum,
vEzha.." 2-3-1;
Nevertheless, sri varadhar is the one who is
highlighted for this thiru-mozhi by swAmi periya-vAchAn piLLai.Sri ranganAthar
is also quoted in this regard.
The vyAkyAnam runs as follows " manushyarAyiruppAr pushpAthupakaraNangaLaik koNdu AsrayikkAmpadi

Human devotees desire to
worship the Lord with flowers and the like. This apart, even an elephant desired
to worship with fresh flower but got itself into hindrance and the Lord rushed
to the spot Himself , removed the obstacle and consoled the elephant and
fulfilled its desire. Over and above this, the Lord still reclines there in thiruvallikkEANi to obliterate any such
difficulties"
Here, the gajendra mOksham is
narrated but the vision is of sri ranganAthar -ennai ALudaiyappan.
Why is that gajEndhra mOksham
episode is taken as primary for this thiru-mozhi? In the preceding thirumozhi,
the Lord's auspicious quality of lowering Himself for the sake of devotees was
narrated. In this though these qualities are mentioned, the fact that the Lord
help even animals is of utmost importance.
