TO BE SATISFIED OR
NOT TO BE?
It is said that Lord is easily satisfied.
A small leaf, little drop of water, any flower with devotion satisfies Him.
However, this thiru-mozhi mentions that the LOrd at thiru-nErmalai is not
satisfied at all. What is this contradiction?
Well, the Lord is satisfied from whatever
we give but is never satisfied from whatever He does for us.
The Lord does lot of things for the
devotees. Descends into the earht, lowers Himself, resues animals, devours the
world surrounded by water and rescues the souls from the great praLayam and
still feels dissatisfied-no! not enough is His
feeling.
He wants to do more and more for His
devotees and longs to do more and more.
This fact is brought forth by sri
thiurmangai AzhwAr in the fourth thiru-mozhi of the second ten-thru-nErmalai
padhigam.The pAsuram:
"pArAr vulagum, pani-mAl
varaiyum, kadalum sudarum ivai vuNdum,
enakk-ArAdhu ena ninRa em-perumAn.....nErAn pEArAn..."
2-4-6;
After having swallowed the bhUlOgam, the
snowcapped mountains, the oceans, sun and the moon and rescuing them, still
feels that 'this is not enough'.
The vyAkyAnam aptly summarises this
idea."prajaigaL vishayamAga ellAm seidhum, pinnaiyum onRum
seiyyAdhAnAiyirukkiRapadi" In the matter of devotees, despite having done
everything He is behaves like one who has not done
anything.
nErAr pEarAn
is the beautiful name given by AzhwAr. The name of the em-perumAn in
this divya-dhEsam is "nEr-vaNNan"
"enakkArAdhena ninRa em-perumAn-nErAr
pEArAn"
