Sri Senthil Kumar, The commentary of Govindaraja, called 'Govindarajeeyam' is the accepted commentary in the Sri Vaishnava tradition. It includes all Khanda-s, even the Uttara Khanda. Some scholars, notably, N Raghunathan and much of the scholars at Ramakrishna Matham, considered the Bala Khanda and Uttara Khanda to be extrapolations from the original. This charge is quite unsustainable since Valmiki's idea of Rama as a human avatara of the Lord stems from the Bala Khanda and Uttara Khanda. Besides that, Govindaraja inclusion of both Khanda-s in his commentary is a testimony that both the Khanda-s are a part of the Valmiki Ramayana. In addition to Govindaraja, the Azhwars have sung about many events normally found in the Uttara Khanda. More about this could be found in Prof Vasudha Narayanan's excellent article on Ramayana: http://www.ramanuja.org/sv/ramayana/ The book review of the Tamizh edition of the commentary of Govindaraja is here: http://www.hinduonnet.com/2001/04/10/stories/13100179.htm Regards, Malolan Yahoo!
