Dear Bhagavatas,
There are two forms of mistakes in the recitation of dhivya
prabhandhams. The one that we have been discussing is the "porut
kuRRam" (mistake in the meaning). This happens because a lot of
people don't or can't understand the meaning of what they recite.
Moreover, when they recite it as poetry with a sense of timing, they
are forced to pause at places that distort the meaning. Even this,
in some perspective, is understandable.

But the other form of mistake, the soR kuRRam (mistake in the
words/pronunciation) is what makes it really jarring. This is
unpardonable. On listening to such mistakes, our dear perumaaL
would squirm in his seat, unapprovingly. These mistakes can be
easily corrected. Our dear PerumaaL loves the dhivya prabhandham
recital (especially thiruvAymozhi) that he has to sit comfortably
and leisurely in order to enjoy the sweet nectar of thiruvAymozhi.
Imagine his discomfort, especially after settling himself so
comfortably and raising his expectation level, to listen to such
jarring mistakes. Even the nirankusa svAthanthran's hands are tied,
for he loves his bhakthAs so much and just patiently listens to them...

If we think about perumAL's discomfort just for a moment, it wouldn't
be so difficult to correct atleast the pronunciation mistakes. Let us
make an honest attempt to think about Him (after all that is the sole
purpose of the recital, right?) and make an effort to correct ourselves.

...sadagOpan thaN thamizh n^ool vaazha...
maNavALa mAmunigaLE, innumoru n^ooRRANdirum!
