dear bhAgavathAs,

EmperumAn has a guNa known as "sAthmya bhOga pradhathvam".
This is the quality of the Lord, where HE does not give
complete bhagavad anubhavam to a devotee immediately in
a moment, but gives the anubhavam in small increments
over time. If the Lord does not do this, but gives all
the anubhavam immediately at one time, then the devotee
may not be able to bear the complete joy.

No mother starts giving rice, sAththumudhu & vegetables to
the child in the first go. First she starts gives milk only
to satisfy the hunger, after a few months, she starts
giving gruel or mashed cooked food, and then only after more
time does she start giving solid food and spicy food.
Similarly, students start learning little/small concepts
first and slowly graduate to learning bigger and larger
concepts. We all see this in our lives.

Similar to the above, the Lord also has a way of slowly
giving anubhavam in increments based on the capacity of
the soul. That way can be understood in this thiruvAymozhi.

EmperumAn wanted to reside on the head of
AzhvAr (thus blessing Him immensely with His holy feet on
his head), and give him the great anubhavam. But, He was
concerned that if He did that directly, then AzhvAr
will become disoriented like a poor man who suddenly
gets a very large quantity of money. So, the LOrd
first comes and stands in a place that is a bit away
from AzhvAr; then He comes closer near AzhvAr, then He
stands near AzhvAr, then He climbs and resides on
the hips of the AzhvAr, then He goes and resides near
the heart of AzhvAr, then He goes and resides in AzhvAr's
tongue, then resides in AzhvAr's eyes, then resides
in AzhvAr's forehead, and finally moves on top of
AzhvAR's head and resides there.

AzhvAr enjoys this doing of the Lord where He slowly
and incrementally gives the anubhavam to AzhvAr.

If we recite this thiruvAymozhi, which AzhvAr sings
due to the sweetness that he experienced by the
Lord coming to Him slowly similar to what the Lord
does for those who know and enjoy the guNAs of the
Lord described in previous thiruvAymozhis, we will
also get the Lord to place His holy feet on our
heads and reside there.

The wordk "ivai" refers to the guNas that AzhvAr sings
about in the previous 8 thiruvAymozhis - which are,
in order, (i) parathvam (ii) bhajaneeyathvam - the
quality of being worshippable (iii) sowlabhyam
(iv) aparaadha sahathvam (v) sowseelyam
(vi) quality of being easy to do worship, (vii)
quality of being very joyful to those who reach Him,
and (viii) Rjuthvam - quality of thinking, saying
and doing the same thing at all times in all
situations. For those who know and enjoy the above
guNAs, the Lord becomes happy with them, and
slowly and incrementally comes and resides with them
in all parts of their body. AzhvAr got that great
blessing, and due to the happiness flowing from that
great gift, he sang this thiruvAymozhi. Those who
recite this thiruvAymozhi will get the great gift
of the lotus feet of the LOrd being on them!.
