Narayana Narayana

Agastya started his journey southwards. On the way, he
had to cross the mighty Vindhya mountain
range. Vindhya, a disciple of Agastya, was constantly
growing taller, trying to block the
movement of surya. But, when Agastya appeared
before him, Vindhya bowed down to pay due
respects to his revered preceptor. Agatya commanded
him to remain like that till he returned,
and quickly walked off . Finally, just as Agastya
reached the south, the balance of the earth was
regained, and the Tirumanam of Lord Shiva went on
without any other obstructions. As Agastya
proceeded southwards, he happened to visit Dakshina
Sheshadri on his way. A fierce demon, by name
Vyaaghrasura, was residing at the bottom of the hill
at that time. On seeing Agastya approaching
the hill, Vyaaghrasura attacked him. But the furious
sage cursed him to take the form of a tiger,
and quickly ascended the hills. Then he took bath in
the sacred "Veda Pushkarani". More details
about this Pushkarani and the hills will be given in
later mails. After bathing, he decided to
undertake a severe penance in order to get recourse
from Viswakarma's curse. So, he controled all
his senses and did a severe penance in the
punyaashramam. Pleased by his devotion, Sriman
Narayanan appeared before him in all His splendour. It
was as if a million suns shone at a time.
Narayanan was seated on the Garuda Vahanam, along with
His consorts Sri, Bhu and Nila Devi. He
possessed four beautiful arms, in which He held the
Shankham, Chakram, Abhaya and Varada mudras.
His dark blue body shone like dark rain clouds in the
sky. He wore a gem-studded Kiritam, Makara
Kundalam, Vanamala haram, and other divine jewels. He
wore the Pitambaram. He also possessed very
attractive eyes, nose, lips, ears and other organs.
All the Nityasuris stood around Him, unable
to withstand His separation for even a moment. All the
Siddhas, Charanas, Suras, Kinnaras,
Apsaras and Gandhrvas too gathered around Him to take
a Glimpse at the Almighty Lord in all His
splendour. All the Deva Gandharvas sang His divine
glory and the apsaras danced around Him in joy.
The Yogis lead by Sanaka, Sanandana, Sanatkumara and
Narada constantly chanted His divine names.
The four Vedas , Shastras, Itihasas, etc. started
singing His divine Names and Divine glory,
taking divine bodies at that moment. Garuda was
flapping his divine wings, which gave rise to the
Sama ganam. Divine sounds from all divine instruments
reverberated in the air all around. The
Almighty Lord Sriman Narayanan bore a beautiful smile
- Manda Smitha Sri mukham - on His lotus
face, looking at all these.
Agastya was dumbfounded, drinking in the grandeur of
this divine spectacle. His eyes were filled
with tears. With growing excitement, and a shaking
voice, he started singing the divine glory of
Sriman Narayanan.

" Namo Bhagavathe tubhyam Purushaaya Mahaatmane/
Namah Kaarana Bhuthaaya Moola Prakrithaye namaha// "
