Brightness eclipesed by Sparkling splendour?

pagaR karandha sudar Azhip padaiyAn

If you keep a tube light in front of a bulb, the light from the bulb recedes but the brightness of the tube-light pervades. A flash light and mercury lamp eclipses the effect of the tube light but the light from the flash-light and mercury lamp sprays the light.

This being so, sudharsanAzhwAn who is thousands of time  brighter than the sun can definitey completely eclipse the light emanating from the sun. However, should not the brightness and light emanating from the SudhrasanAzhwAn spread light everywhere is the question/

This question is raised in the context of Sri krshNA making Sri SudhrarsanAzhwAn as a disc which completes hides the surface of the sun facing the earth. Thus the sun's light goes off completely but why darkness should emanate? Why should everybody perceive that dusk has arrived and it is advent of night? Should not the brightness and light of the SudharsanAzhwAn spread throughout the world making it brighter?

Sri maNavALa mAmunikAL who has given  commentary for periyAzhwAr thirumozhi has talked of this very point :
The pAsuram:

"'Azhi koNdu anRiravi maRaippa " 4-1-8;

vyAkyAnam: niravadhika thEjO rUpamAna thiru-AzhiyAlEa Adhithyanai maRaithAl lOkathukku veLichiRappu migavum vuNdAgum ithanai anRoA! ....kaNgaLukku iruNdu thORRumO ennil- indha Adhithyanudaiya thEjassu kaNNAlEa mugakkalAm padi aLavu pattirukkaiyAlEa thamassu pOm padi irukkum; angan anRikkEa thiruvAzhiyAzhwAnudaiya nEar kodu nEar kaNkoNdu pArka voNNAdhapadiyA irukkaiyAlEa -iruLap paNNiRru -- idhu thAn -- pUrvargaL aruLich seidhArgaL iRea.-Sri maNavALa mAmunikaL.

The limitless radiance of the sudharsanazhwAn's cannot be faced by our naked eyes. Hence, the eyes closes automatically to one and all and therefore it appears as if there is darkness unlike the sun's light which can be seen by the eyes.

This point is explained by periya jEyar as explained by pUrvAchAryAs.

Sri periyavAchAn piLLai gives the same explanation for the periya  thirumozhi pAsuram

"pagaR karandha sudar Azhip padaiyAn"  6-9-5;

The Lord hid the daylight by using Sri SudhrasanAzhwAn
"Adhithyanudaiya thEjassu kaN koNdu mugakkalAm; thiruvAzhiAzhwAnudaiya thEjassu kaN koNdu mugakka voNNAdhapadi irukkaiyAlEa iruNDu kATTiRRaithu"
that is why the brightness is eclipsed by Spaekling spelendour.- Sri periyavAchAn piLLai.
