Chakravathith
thirumagan
One may wonder why the embodiment of
compassion 'Chakravarthith thirumagan' is being left
out of ther series on magnanimity. No way.
Can anybody forget His equanimous
treatment of AyOdhya Empaire and banishment to exile. 'anRalarndha senthAmarai' says kambar- The radiance
on the countenance of perumAL is likened to a fresh blossomed lotus on hearing
the news, that He is being sent off to exile.
'..sERRam
ilAdhAnai' says Sri peiryAzhwAr. On denial of ones legitimate rights, one
gets angry and rattled. Here AzhwAr describes Him as sERRam
ilAdhAnai thereby meaning that Sri RamA is composed. Over and above being
composed, PerumAL accepts this with Grace and smile. That is
magnanimity.
Sri thirumangai AzhwAr describes the Large
Heartedness of perumAL on two counts in the 'yEAzhai
yEAdhalan' thirumzohi 5-7.
One is the episode of guhA. The fact that
guhA is an ordinary hunter. He does not possess much wealth. He is not born in a
High clan. Overlooking all this the Lord out of complete compassion showers His
Grace on him. He introduces lakshmaNA as(GuhA's) his brother and sEthA as
His sister -thOzhi. Does the Great mind stop there. No.
He introduces Himself as guhA's friend
rather than introducing guHA as His friend. 'vugandhu
thOzhan nE enakku are kaliyan's exact words in this regard.
That is why Sri piLLai lOkAchAryAr
mentions in srEvachana bhUshaNam ' SribharathAzhwAnukku
nanmai dhAnEa thEmai AyiRRu; SrEguhaperumALukku thEmai dhAnEa nanmai AyiRRu."
145;
The next is in respct of thiruvadi.
Thiruadi is descendent of vAyU. Belongs to the clan of monkeys. Is not
considered in the category of mankind.
Glossing over all these , the Lord
takes food in single banana leaf with him. What a Great
mind.
'vAdha
mAmagan-maRkadam-vilangu-maRRoAr sAdhi-enRozhindhilai...kOdhil vAimayinAnOdu
vudanEa vuNban nAn" 5-7-2;
There are so many instances in the
rAmAyaNA where if one drops a pin it will go and get stuck up in one or
other of such magnanimous qualities of the Lord.
kAkAsuran who tormented pirATTi was driven
by brahmAstharam in the form of a grass. After circling all the worlds kAkAsuran
fell at the feet of divine Lord who spared its life leaving one of its eyes
blind.
' aNaithulagum
thirindhODi, vithaganEa, irAmA Oh! nin-abyam enRazhaikka,
athiRamEa adhan kaNNai
aRuthadhum Or adaiyALam" periyAzhwAr thirumzohi 3-10-6;
Thus this can go on and on and that is why
swAmi nam-AzhwAr puts it like this:
'kaRpAr irAma pirAnai
allAl maRRum kaRparOA'7-5-1 of thiruvoimozhi.
