Dear sri vaishNva perunthagaiyeer,

On the colour front of the supreme lord my krishNa, I am not really satisfied
with what is already given and that is why the topic is continued. So excuse me
for continuing this topic to this much length. Now see this colourful
description of my krishNa.

yaam dhrushtvaa yamunaam pipaasu: anisamvyoohO gavaam gaahathE
vidhyuthvaanithi neelakaNta nivahO yaam dhrashtum uthkantathE |
uththamsaaya thamaala pallavamithi chchinthanthi yaam gOpikaa:
kaanthi: kaaLiya saasanasya vapusha: saa paavanee paathu na: ||

2 -2 krishna karnaamrutham of leela sukhar

meaning:
        - thinking that kaanthi of krishNa, the shine, as yamunaa water,
the cows go to drink water;
        - thinking that kaanthi as this is the cloud with the bright
lightning, the peacocks want to see that cloud [to start dancing];
        - thinking that kaanthi this is the tender leaves fit for wearing
as a decoration for the hair the gOpees pluck those leaves;
let such a divine krishna's shine of the tender body which ruled over the snake
kaaliya saves us.

Point: why I select this verse while discussing about colour - is that - the
verse of thirumangai is reflected here - koNdal vaNNam, ponnin vaNNam, maNiyin
vaNNam are there.
        - The blue colour, which deceives the cows as though it is
yamunaa water, pulls the cows towards him in attraction.
        - Clouds with bright lightning - koNdal vaNNam and ponnin vaNNam
are in a combination - that clouds with in built lightning.
        - Tender leaves of green colour for gOpees - that maragatha maNi
krishNa - green colour krishNa is the center of attraction for the gOpees.

That light green colour of tender leaves - makes gopees think he is the fit
tender leaf for their hair decoration - may be that was their style those days,
to decorate the hairdo with leaves. Even in 2004 Olympics the head of
successful players were crowned with a leafy ring - that natural decoration is
present even in a fashionable modern world today also.

Not only that body, but let that shine of that colour to save us.

Considering the grammatical meaning of 'kaanthi' if we see Monier Williams page
270 col 3 it reads
kaanthi - desire, wish, loveliness, beauty, splendour, female beauty, personal
decoration or embellishment, lovely colour, brightness, beauty enhanced by
love.

So even if you want to apply any meaning as given in dictionary, it all fits so
nicely in the verse above. Just add one meaning after other as above and
visualize that krishNa - you will get a Krishna kaanthi in your inner eyes.

Now let us see another verse - from same krishNa karnaamrutham

adhyantha baalam athasee kusuma prakaasam
dhikvaasasam kanaka booshaNa bhooshithaangam
visrastha kEsam aruNaadharam aayathaaksham
krishNam namaami manasaa vasudhEva soonum -- 2-19

meaning: That small child who
        * has a neelOthpala flower's blue colour body
        * has the directions - dhik - as his dress [ means naked]
        * has his body decorated fully with gold jewelry
        * has the hair not decorated but spread naturally
        * has the red lips shining
        * has large eyes spread shiningly
on that son of vasudhEva, I meditate or to that son of vasudhEva I prostrate.

Point: This is again a beauty of a verse
        - blue colour - the child's natural colour - since he is naked
with directions as dress - means the blue colour of the directions in the sky
has come to the body - it is so powerful and shining, and the need of dress is
questionable.
        - Added to that decorated with gold jewelry - as periyaazhvaar
described - different gods and others have given all sorts of jewelry starting
from brahma

"maaNikkam katti vairamidai katti aaNip ponnaal seidha vaNNach chiRu
thottil
        pEni unakku biraman vidu thandhaan
[refer the 10 paasurams] from brahma to lakshmi all given some kind of
jewelry.

        - different people have given - so all that is added on to the
child - so the brightness of all these jewelry takes over and the need for
dress becomes questionable again. Whether weight of all these will be an
addition to him - bhoo bhaaram sumappavanukku idhu oru sumaiyaa? So jewelry
gives 'ponnin vaNNam'.
        - koNdal vaNNam - for the black spread hair
        - the red lips - coral colour - maNiyin vaNNam - coral is also a
gem - maNi.
        - those bright eyes - senthaamaraik kaNgaL - neeNda ap
periyavaaya kaNgaL - maRRavaraip pEdhamai seyyum kaNgaL - does need any
description or colour - for that is the real starting point for all these
descriptions. So what colour is those eyes - mind is blindfolded.

So dear bhakthaas, no comments - visualize and see in your mental eye, the
whole krishNa - that adhyantha baalam - krishNam namaami.

Dhaasan

Vasudevan m.g.
