Dear All,

Known as MahAveeran, Raman was royal prince who was known for His parAkramam.
He was able to finish off thousands of rakshasas under 1.5 muhurta kalam.
Raman's Thirumeni Azhaghu cannot be explained with just words (called as
AzhivannA by Kaliyan in describing His Sousheelyam with Guhan in Ezhai Ethalan
pathikam for Srirangam). Here, Azhivannan not oly refers to complete thrumeni
azhagu of Raman, like thousands of pearls, but also His complete Kalyana Gunam
portrayed by His thirumeni itself. His thirumeni was full of marks of arrows
immediately after the battle was over. Sita thought that it would not be
possible to heel all those wounds on Raman?s thirumeni with medicine. Hence,
she embraced (Alanginam in sanskrit) Raman. Immediately, all the marks and
wounds on Raman?s thirumeni were gone.

Krishna made sure that He would not touch any of His DivyAyudhams (weapons)
until the battle was over. He stood by His words. He was just having shangu and
kOl (sattai) to run the chariot (we can refer to one of the Azhwar?s pasurams,
kollA mAkkOl?). In order to protect Arjuna, Krishna took all the arrows on His
thirumeni. His thirumeni was full of marks at the end of the war. This time,
Rukmini pirAtti did not want to embrace Kannan. Had she done what she did in
RamAvatAram, we all could not have worshipped such a beautiful thirumukha
mandalam of Parthasarathy, the utsavar in Thiruvallikkeni. In KrishnAvataram,
Thayar had so much of KArunyam on us to ensure that we all worship this unique
beauty of Perumal as Parthasarathy.

PeyAzhwar, Thirumazhisai Azhwar and Thirumangai Azhwar have sung on this Divya
Desam. Let us start with Thirumangai Azhwar and end with PeyAzhwar. In the
second pathu of Periya Thrumozhi, Kaliyan has sung 10 pasurams covering all the
Perumals in this Divya Desam. He starts with the pasuram, virperu vizhavum.
Kaliyan has interestingly pictursied the kamsa vadham in this pasuram. When
Kannan entered the court of Kamsan, He first finished off the the elephant
called kuvalayApeetam. Then, He killed the pAgan (one who takes care of
elephant), and then Kamsan. Azhwar has reversed the order of killing in this
pasuram. How could it be possible? The reason is very simple. Kannans?s
activity of killing Kamsan was so spontaneous that it was very difficult to
make out who got killed first in the pipe line. It seemed like everything
happened instantaneously. Azhwar ends the pasuram with the RamAvatAra
anubhavam, saying that One who left the kingdom to obey the order of sittrannai
(Kaikeyi) is the
One whom I am worshipping as Venkata Krishnan in Thiruvallikkeni.

What ever form Perumal takes and which ever way He comes to this earth, He is
never less in His attributes. This aspect can be refrred to the fouth chapter
in Bhagat Gita where Kannan talks about His avatAra rahasyam. Irrespective of
His avatAram, He is always with pArakramam.

Let us look at some more anubhavams of Azhwars in the next posting,

aDiyEn,

ramanan
