Dear Sri Venkatesh
svAmi,
Dwelling on the first sUthram of dvhyap
prakaraNam of MumUkshuppadi
'irukkum nAL varai
vugandharuLina nilangaLil pravaNaNAi pozhudu
pOKkaiyum'
Seen in isolation this may indeed look
like one spends time in divya-dhesam-s. However, should be seen with two other
words
pEARu thappAdhu
enRirukkai-PEARRukkuth thvarikkai
One has to realise that He is the granter
or salvation and having realised so , should have complete faith in Him, that He
will elevate us -visumbEARA vaikkum endhai -Periaya Thirumozhi 2-1; and also it
is well known that the release takes place to ThirunaDu at the time of the end
of this life and He grants it
'maraNam AnAl
vaikuntham kodukkum pirAn' thiruvAimozhi 9-10;
Can one be then docile till then. The
yearning and expectation to reach Him grows; This is the pEARRukkuth
thvarikkai.
Now in this backdrop, Sri pILLai lOkAchAr
sums up the whole issue. irukkum nAL varai
what does one do while awaiting the final
release -gUNAnubhavangaL, kainkarayangaL and so on.
The aim here is not to pass on the time.
The soul has surrendered at His divine feet and having done so awaits His final
dictum and the mind cannot go into other materialstic
aspects.
Who can but look towards any other thing
but towards the kalyANa guNangaL of EmperumAn
'sEr kalandha sol
ninaindhu pOkkArEal en ninaindhu pOkkuvar ippOdhu' Periya thiruvandhAdhi
IN the same vain, Sri Thirumazhisaip pirAn
also mentions 'Therithezhudi vAsithum kEATTum, pUsithum pOkkinEan
pOdhu'
and also
'thozhil enakku thollaimAl
than nAmam yEAtha''
The basic difference thus
is
this is a way of life for us. Not a pass
time. The aim here is not to pass time.
It is a living style in tandem witht he
nature of the Atman. The above pAsuram-s talk about the souls who have complete
conviction that He is the measn and the end and will bequeath us with exalted
status at the opportune moment.
the pAsuram 'pOzhdhu
pOgagiRkun pUNmai' does not talk of these souls but those who spend time
for that sake
