Jai Ramanuja,The VED says AGNI DEVANAAM AVAMAHA ,VISHNU PARAMAHA.Hence there is gradation in the deva group. But VISHNU being omnipresent ,He is antaryami of everything from Brahma to ant to inanimate beings.Vishnu alone is the supreme reality (ved says NARAYANA PARAM BRAHMA)& all others are jivas which are graded from ants to gods. Sri Krishna says that everything is His VIBHUTI(GLORY).One can see everything as GOD in this aspect that HE IS PERVADING & CONTROLLING EVERYTHING.All the so called gods derive power from Lord Vishnu(again this is from Gita). So we vaishnavas worship Lord VISHNU alone who is the supreme reality & HIS DEVOTEES .We have respect for all other gods as they are His vibhutis. The RELATION between a PRAPANNA(ONE WHO HAS SURRENDERED TO LORD)& his SWAMI is similar to a pativrata & her husband. She serves only her husband as a wife & has only respect for other males. She gets all her needs fulfilled by her husband alone.Similarly a Prapanna sri vaishnava worships LORD NARAYANA alone though he shows respect to others.

Dear Sir,You raise a point I have heard many times before (although in differentcontexts). I had a question then as I do now:Does this mean, "There are many gods and they are all are not equal"? Also, wouldn't it be then redundant to pray to Lord Vinayaka before recitingeither Vishnu Sahasaranamam or Kanakadhara Stotram?I would really appreciate any answer you might have or any pointers you might have that I can follow that might help me understand Vaishnavismbetter. Jai Ramanuja, Thanks for asking this question. The scriptures (saatvik)mension LORD SRIMAN NARAYANA as the supreme reality to whom seekers of salvation must surrender. In GITA too Bhagvan says that those worshipping other gods reach them while those worshipping me attain me from where there is no return.Though the efforts aresame ,people for sake of minor & perishing fruits approach othergods while I am ready to give eternal fruits.Even ADI SHANKARACHARYA in his gita bhashya has commented thus.Hence srivaishnavas who seek salvation worship only Bhagvan with onemind.(ananya, which is mentioned in places in GITA).This is a brief answer. There are books written on it.Pl. read ADI SHANKARA'S GITACOMMENTARY. dasan 9minor) , 22 Apr 2003 Nagraj wrote : >Dear All >>Even i requried some clarification,Infact i have asked several>time >these question but none of them have replied. >Do Iyengar worship lord Ganesha,But lot of them say no pl let >me >know what wrong in worshiping Lord ganesh/Vinayaka. > >Kindly do replay > >nagaraj > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Vasan Sriranga Chari > To: sukumar > Cc: 'Malolan Cadambi' ; SriRangaSri@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ; >ramanuja@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ; bhakti-list > Sent: Tuesday, April 22, 2003 5:22 PM > Subject: Re: RE: [SriRangaSri] Re: need clarification. > > > > Jai Ramanuja,> Haya means horse ,greeva means neck.So may be the lord whose>face > was like a horse is called HAYAGREEVA.(HAYAVADANA) > DASAN > On Sat, 19 Apr 2003 sukumar wrote : > >Sri Krishnaya Namah! > > > >Dear Bhaktas, > > > >I would appreciate if you could let me know > > > >the meaning of the word - Hayagriva. > > > >the above is necessitated as, we used to prepare a >delicious > >dish called> >by the same name and offer it to the Lord and the Lord has>also > >been called> >by the same name - Hayagriva.
