"Sri Ramanuja Vani" this is a quarterly
journal of Sri Ramanuja Vedhanta Centre. The Editor is Dr.J
Parthasarathy and the office is at 10 South Mada
Street,Triplicane,Chennai 600005.Phone Chennai 844 1806.Rate of
subscription Annual Rs 20/ Life200/.
The magazine is in English and comes out
with a number of articles by learned and knowledgeable
scholors, vidwans profs etc.We were reading the present issue
Vols,24&25 and at page 5 there was a book review on the book
titled " Tengaliyum and Vadagaliyum" Let me
reproduce para two of the review of the book for the benefit
of my dear Srivaishnavites.
"The present publication from his pen touches the
rather sensitivefield of Tengalai and Vadagalai on which passions are easily
roused and mind gets befuddled(-dictionary meaning of this word
=confuse-this is mine) owing to long-cultivated attachments. It is sad chapter
of our history that what started as differences of itrepretations of texts got
hardened into social splits and two seperate sects, often at logger heads
with each other at different levels, came into being.
The age of Western materialism is tending to
engulf all our ancient religious institutions and even over throw the
foundations of our beleifs. In this alarming situation,it is prime necessity
for memebrs of the two sects to understand with love and sympath theological
frameworks of their two sects with their essentials unities and their
differences in certain view points within the overall set up of doctrinesof
the religion.Such a sypathetic understanding, cultivated with love reaching out
to each other as a common bond will surely prove effective in spreading
the Sri Vaishnava spiritual visions appeal to more and more
populations.
We find a dispassionate expostion in this book of
the agreements and the differences of the two sects on Tatva,Hita and
Purushavtha(Moksha)........"
Every one agrees to the above but act
entirly to the contrary.
Let Sriyapathi Lord Narayana take
us in the right direction of following Emperumanar
Darsanam.
