They have not closed the door on god! This is not correct. Let me reproduce the dictionary meaning of the word agnostic from webster on line: "a person who holds the view that any ultimate reality (as God) is unknown and prob. unknowable; broadly : one who is not committed to believing in either the existence or the nonexistence of God or a god" In other words someone is committed to not care about ultimate reality. This is not "doubting stage". There is no doubt in the minds of these individuals as suggested in this response. They are convinced that the existance of god can neither be proved nor disproved. I hope the readers get the subtle actual meaning of the word agnostic. -- dileepan
