Dear Sri Sadagopan Iyengar, Kindly accept daasan's Sashtanga Pranamams. All of Thy writings are so full of nectar like the tasty Dhanurmaasam prasaadam of the Lord lovingly prepared by our Kodai - 'Palshoru with mooda nei peidu mulangai valivaara' ... There could be one more reason for the Gajendran's thousand years of struggle fighting the crocodile...It shows how important once personal effort ( like yagnya, daana and tapasya ) in obtaining Moksham or Bhagavan Sriman Narayanan's darshanam. In the Bhagavad Gita , Our Lord after blessing Arjuna with the Charama Slokam , clearly orders him not to reveal that secret to a person who has not done any Tapasya, Bhakti, selfless servise etc., thereby upholding the importance of Jiva's self-effort in making himself eligible for His mercy. Also in the Draupadi's vastraapaharam incident, she initially puts forth all her personal effort to protect herself but finally when it goes beyond her capacity she surrenders completely to the Lord. Though ultimately it is the Lord's unconditional mercy alone that finally grants true knowledge or Moksham, Jiva's self effort in the form of his tapasya , performing prapati and sharanaagati through the lotus feet of the Acharya are also very much essential. This is adiyen's two cents worth and request you all to correct me if have diverted. Iti Sri Acharya Pada renu, Suresh
