No time limit once you cross the recommended age. From a practical point of view, I am planning on doing that for my son this summer. He is an adult working in Florida. We did not conduct Upanayanam for various reasons. Now the time has come to do that. In particular, if the person is following some of the required tenets and is willing to do it on a regular basis, however meagerly, there should not be any objection. My personal conviction is that the person needs to be away from some of the food habits (solids and liquids) he might have developed in this country because they are not conducive to the work! I am sure the resident disciples of Chinnajeeyar Swamiji will be glad to conduct the function. Gopi Chari ------------------------ Yahoo!
