namo narayana
There are two versions of this stotram.
One features the dhyana shlokams of Shri Varaha, ShrNarasimha,Vamana,
Vishnu and Sudarshanan, followed by the shlokam. The foreword says
that these were recited by Shri Seetha for the safety of Shri
Anjaneya when his tail was set aflame and also during Agnipravesham
and later in Uttarakandam, before She went into the Earth.
This version has been brought out by Shri Narasimhapriya (Tamil)as a
supplement to the Aippasi issue. This is also the version brought by
the Visishtadvaita Pracharini Sabha.
The other version has the actual kumbhasthapanakramam along with
sarvaanga nyasam and so on, (if I understand that correctly),
followed by the shlokam- but does not have the dhyana shlokams.
I have seen this done according to the text and prokshanam was done
to everybody present and many of those present got a lot of relief.

 Yogacharya Krishnamacharya (Krishnamacharya yoga
mandiram,Chennai)used to say that this shlokam along with
Mangalyastavam can be recited by everyone for all kinds of auspicious
results. He also used to say that Apaamarjana stotram needs a little
bit of niyamam - should be recited right after a bath if possible
on an empty stomach.
(While we have to strive for the maximum niyamam possible, it has to
be remembered that any niyamam is only for people who have the shakthi
to do it. This is particularly true for people who are not well. This
is according to Shri Krishnamacharya , as I understood it )
I hope this helps.

 Vaasaka doshaH kshantavyaH.
 Subha Venaktesan
