Dear Sri. Rangarajan

Adiyen is not sure about the first question on the size. But w.r.t the number of saligramams that should be in a house here is the following detail:

1. One can have one saligramam for worship. Two and three saligramams are not allowed. If in case, someone has two saligramams, then one has to perform a regular aradhanam to one saligramam and one can do another aradhanam if he has time. Otherwise, for the other saligramam one has to peform thaligai hamsegithal. This is the similar case for three saligramams.

2. In the even nos, 4, 6, 8.....n where n is even, one can have that many number of saligramams. If one has 12 saligramams, then it is called a Kshetram.

3. Odd nos from 3,5,7,....n where n is odd is not allowed. In case, if somebody has say 5 saligramas, then one can perform one aradhanam for 4 saligramams at a time, and then for the other saligramam, another aradhanam has to be performed. This can be done till the numbers are synched to 6, or 8 etc.

This information is taken from Sri. U.Ve.Melpakkam Narasimhachariar's kelvi-bathil from Srinrusimha Priya and the present H.H. Srimath Poundarikapuram Andavan Swami's article in Perarulalan journal.

Adiyen Ramanuja Dasan

SrI:
Srimathe Ramanujaya Namaha:

Dear Bhagavathotamas,
Adiyen would like to enlightened on the size of the Saligramam murthy to be
worshipped in our grihas. Some say that saligrama murthams which are big in
size should not be worshipped at home. Is it true? How to determine the size of saligrama murtham to be kept at home? How about the number of saligramams
to be kept? Is there any restriction / niyamam on that as well? with
pranams,

Adiyen Ramanuja Dasan
