SrI: SrImathE Gopaladesika Mahadesikaya nama: Dearest all, Thus He has entered into my eyes, and in order to let such people like me to praise Him, enjoy Him and utter His divine name with saliva laden mouth, He has come here at Srirangam and is showing Himself so gracefully. Now I am blessed to enjoy seeing that with my pair of eyes- says AzhwAr. irumpanan RuNta neerum pOtharum koLka, enRan arumpiNi pAva mellAm akanRana ennai vittu, surumpamar sOlai soozhn^tha arangkamA kOyil koNta, karumpinaik kaNtu koNten kaNNiNai kaLikku mARE 13 ananRu irumbu uNda neerum- even the water that is absorbed by the hot iron podharum- does not go waste; It yields results koLga- there is no doubt about it; let me explain. enthan ? my arumpiNi paavam ellaam- all cruel sins that would give rise to karmic diseases (have all disappeared and burnt to ashes) en kaNN iNai- my pair of eyes surumbamar solai soozhndha ? the bee humming garden-filled and surrounded arangam ? Srirangam divya desam (in that) maa koil koNda- considering this as the most important and main temple karumbinai- the sweetest Lord Ranganathan(who is like the sugarcane) kaNdu koNdy kaLikkum aaRu- enjoy seeing Him (in front of my eyes) I drank the Lord who came and entered into my eyes with His abhaya mudrA. I thought that would disappear like the water that is sprinkled on the hot iron; Instead, it stayed and did lot of other things as well. It has burnt all my paapams. All my karmic diseases have been burnt to ashes. The paapams were so huge that they could have given me diseases for very many births and ages. All of them have been burnt. Immediately, I am not getting a great urge to see Him in front of my eyes physically; the dirty, filthy body, saliva ? all those thinking has gone; I want to see Him in this most beautiful garden filled Srirangam divya desam. He is so sweet like the sugarcane. He has (on His own accord) considered this place as His permanent place to stay. My pair of eyes enjoy seeing Him here. My eyes have begun to enjoy this most beautiful form here in Srirangam. The heated iron when water is sprinkled on it- absorbs the water; Thought the water disappears; But it is not going away; It does have an effect on iron and it does some chemistry. Not I understand similarly the Lord who has entered into my eyes have had such an enormous effect in me who is like the heated iron, burning and scorching with thaapa thraya. All such thapathraya and the sins have now been destroyed like the water that takes away the Heat from iron. Now my Athma enjoys the Lord after all the dirt has been removed. AzhwAr can be compared to water as well. Thus the water (i.e. myself) is not going away or perishing. The water is being used. Sri Satakopan Swami?s comments: Here the Azhwar describes his experience after the Lord appeared to him as he closed his eyes in fear. He says that he "devoured " the beauty of the Lord, who showed up inside his closed eyelids. He confesses that he was afraid that the appearance of the Lord would evaporate and disappear like the water ,when hot iron is dipped into it .Instead, he says that the "hot and thrilling "experience of the Lord's appearance inside his closed eyelids stayed there and caused the utter destruction of his ancient sins. The queasy thought of his unfitness to utter the Lord's name disappeared. He says that a great desire rose inside him to open his eyes and enjoy the beauty of the Lord of Srirangam. He says that his sins were gone now and that he became engaged in the delectable experience of tasting the physical beauty of Lord Ranganatha.
