Dear Sriman balaji, I totally agree with your comment . I also believe the purification mantras of Sandhyavandanam are not a license to commit sin, rather are there to cleanse the sin. They may have the power to purify even the gravest of sins, but that doesn't mean they are expecting us to commit sin. Their purpose is to purifiy us from the inevitable basal sin associated with the act of living, may it be sin in words, deeds or thoughts. It can be compared to taking bath or brushing teeth, which we do routinely. Naturally, we don't purposely fall in a septic tank so as to fully exploit the power of bath! Another analogy could be like an insurance policy (Health or life). The company that sold you the policy would like you not to ever have to use it! dAsan K.
