Sriman Ramesh and Sriman Venkataraghavan Srinivasan, Srimathe Ramanujaya Namaha Lakshmi Sahasram was composed by Arasanipalai Venkatadhwari Swamy as you have correctly mentioned. As the story goes, this Stothram was composed by Sri Swamy in order to get his eye-sight which was stated to have been lost in consequence of his critical remarks about the inhabitants of various Divya Desams in his work "Viswa Gunaadarsa Champu". In this champu kavya Sri Swamy graphically describes various Divya Desams through two Characters (Gandharvas by name Viswavasu), one eulogising the greatness of the place & its inhabitants and the other critically commenting about the not-so virtuous side of it. Even today, many Acharyas recommend to their sishyas who have eye related ailments to recite Sri Lakshmi Sahasram.
