SrI:
SrImathE Gopaladesikamahadesikaya namah:

Dearest Srivaishnavas,

Let us continue to enjoy PeiyAzhwAr?s wonderful
anubhavams on ThiruvEnkatam. Today?s verse on
ThiruvEnkatam is the 62nd verse.

viNNagaram veqkaa virithirain^eer vEngadam,
maNNakaram maamaada vELukkai, maNNakattha
then_kudanthai thEnaar thiruvarangam then_kOtti,
than_kudangai neerERRaan thaazvu.         62

AzhwAr enjoys here enlisting some more Dhivya Desams
wherein the Lord out of His own accord resides in
archaa murthy and blesses us all with such easy
accessibility.

ThiruviNNagaram (Oppiliappan Koil);
Thiruve:kaa (in Kanchipuram);
The water splashing (with most beautiful water falls)
ThiruvEnkatam;
This is THE Place? [people]exclaim so looking at
ThiruvELukkai Dhivya Desam which is filled with the
most beautiful huge palatial buildings;
It appears as if it is the center of the bhUmi [earth]
itself ? so popular and beautiful Thirukkudanthai (ArA
amudhan);
The most fertile Thiruvarangam [Srirangam] with honey
flooded gardens (honey dripping from their flowers];
The most wonderful Southern ThirukkOttiyoor Dhivya
Desam.

At all these places resides the Lord who stooped down
so low to beg with His small palms for three measures
of His Feet [during His Vaamana avathAram]. For the
sake of getting back the Devendra?s worlds [Himself
being UpEndran], He went begging for three measures of
His Lotus Feet; He came in a small brahmachari Boy as
Vaamanan; His such sowseelyam can be also seen in each
of these most wonderful divine Divya Desams.

In order to save the world (its people- namely His
children], He has taken these archA murthys and
blesses the world every day.
ThiruviNnagaram- Oppiliappan Koil. Near KumbakOnam;
simply breathtaking PerumAL and BhUmi PiraaTTi; The
temple is located 1 mile from Thirunaageswaram & 4
miles from Kumbakonam. The Moolavar is Oppiliyappan
(Srinivaasan) seen in standing posture, similar to
Venkataachalapathi, facing east. Those who cannot
visit Thirupati worship the Lord at this sthalam.
Thaayaar - Boomi Devi seen in seated posture at the
Lord's feet. No separate sannidhi for thaayaar.

ThiruvElukkai- Thiruvvaelukkai is situated in
Kancheepuram, about a mile from Ashtabujakaram. The
Moolavar is Azhagiasingar, Nrusimhar, Mukundanayagan
seen in standing posture facing east. Thaayaar -
Vaelukkaivalli, Amruthavalli. AzhwAr mentions the
beauty of Dhivya Desam so that people will not get
scared of the Lion faced Lord?s ferocity. He is ari
pongik kaattum azhagu. He is terror for the enemies of
His devotees. Not towards His devotees. Let us go to
His devotees? side and needn?t be scared.

Thirukkudanthai- Again the most beautiful divya Desam;
The temple is located in Kumbakonam 1 1/2 miles from
the railway station. The Moolavar is Saarangabaani
(other naamaas - Aaravamudan, Abaryaapthaamrudhan)
seen in sayanam posture on Aadiseshan, facing East.

Thiruvarangam- needs no description. ULTIMATE..#1
divya Desam.. sung by maxmimum number of AzhwArs..
[padutthukkondE jayippaar?]
ThirukkOttiyoor- This is where Sri Ramanuja was
conferred the title EmperumAnAr by his own acharyan
Thirukkoshtiyoor Nambhi for his [Ramanuja?s]
compassion towards us. Thirukkotiyur temple is
situated about 7 miles from Thirupathur near Madurai.
The Moolavar is Uraga-mellanaiaan seen in bhujanga
sayanam posture facing east. The uthsavar is Sowmya
Naaraayanan seen in standing posture. Thaayaar -
Thirumaamagal Naachiyaar.

Where is Vaamanan in this Dhivya Desam list? Why does
AzhwAr refer saying that in these dhivya Desams one
can see vaamanan ? the One who begged with his small
palms. Commentator says: AzhwAr refers to the
sowseelyam of Vaamana avathAram is seen in these Divya
Desams as well in the same manner if not more. That
was only for few minutes that he showed His
sowseelyam; Here in these Dhivya Desams, the Lord
continues to show His easy accessibility for all of
us- day after day.

Sowseelyam means: Mixing intimately with the inferior
class. Since such a communion takes place without any
motivation and occurs out of His love, it becomes
Suseela (or gracious). It may also mean as interpreted
by Sri Sudharsana Suri, that virtue of the Lord by
which devotees who approach Him are not made to
entertain any fear in the ground that He is Supreme
Being. At the same time, God in archA murthy and in
Vibhavam does NOT show any Supremacy so that the
distinction between himself and His devotees is not
felt.

Such sowlseelyam ? is the very reason for His being
made available so easily for us in these dhivya Desams
in the form of Dhivya mangaLa vigrahams.

Thus when Vaamanan is mentioned, it is the quality of
the Lord Vaamanan which is to be enjoyed in these
Dhivya Desams i.e. sowlabhyam, sowseelyam.
