121St Thirunakshathram Celebration of Sri Kozhiyalam
Swamy

I am posting an appeal on behalf of Sri U.Ve Sri
Ananthanarasimhachar of Srirangam, who I had the bhagyam
to meet and visit in Bangalore recently. He mentioned
about the upcoming 121st birthday celebration of his
acharya Sri Kozhiyalam Swamy (Sri Rangaramanuja Maha
Desikan), who lived from 1882 to 1961, and asked for
SVSS support in raising funds in USA. Sri U.Ve Sri
Ananthanarasimhachar is the Organizing Secretary and
Treasurer of Sri Kozhiyalam Swamy?s 121st
Thirunakshathram Celebration.

Sri Kozhiyalam Swamy was a famous ascetic because of his
erudition, very rigorous daily routine, detachment from
all the wordly desires and deep devotion towards Sriman
Narayana. He has authored many independent and thought
provoking works in Sanskrit and in Tamil. His holiness
Sri Kozhiyalam Swamy was a great acharya of Srivaishnava
sampradaya and Visitadvaitha Philosophy.

Prominent among his disciples were Sri Ananthasayanam
Iyengar and Vaikuntavasi U.Ve Vidwan Uttamur
Viraghavacharya Swamy, a Sanskrit scholar of par
excellence and who was the very first recipient of
certificate of honor from President of India.

Sri Kozhiyalam Swamy 121st birthday is planned to be
celebrated in Srirangam, the Bhuloka Vaikunta and the
place he took sanyasa ashrama. The celebrations are
planned for 5 days starting 29 March 2002.

The celebrations include the following:
1.Vedaparayanam by 10 vedic scholars
2.Recitation of Nalayira Divya Prabandham by 10 scholars
3.Parayanams of Sri Bhasya, Sri Gita Bhasya, Sri
Rahasyatrayasara and Sri Bhagavath Vishayam
4.Sri Bhasya Vidwath Sadas which about 50 vidwaths are
supposed to participate
5.Discourses by eminent scholars
6.Publication of a Souvenir

Contributions in India are collected under the tax
exempt Sri Madurantakam Swamy Centenary Celebration
Trust.

Contributions in USA are being raised by Sree Vaishnava
Seva Samithi (SVSS). Tax Exempt donations payable to
NAMA Inc may be sent to the following address.
