***************************************************
Today , we will continue with the meanings &
Commentaries on the second and third CharaNams .
Second CharaNam :
****************
atisaya Subhadham ahObalam
atula manOhara mahObalam
hata duritacayam ahObalam
Yatimata siddham ahObalam
(Meaning provided by Ambika Ananth and Adviteeya Dixit):
" Bestower of supreme auspiciousness, AhObalam
Immeasurably magnificient , AhObalam
Destroyer of sinful ways , Ahobalam
Yathi Matham is established here , AhObalam"
2.1) ATISAYA SUBHADHAM AHOBILAM :
**************************************
In this HiraNya SamhAra KshEthram , there are
nine Narasimha Moorthys : At the foot of the hill
is Lakshmi Nrusimhan ; on the way up the hill are
YogAnanadha and ChatravaDa Narasimhans .
On top of the hill are Ugra nad VarAha Narasimhans .
Nearby on VedAdhri is Parmulithi Narasimhan ; on top of
GandhAdhri hill is PrahlAdha Narasimhan . On the banks of
BhArgava theertham are BhArgava and Kaarangi Narasimhan .
The 67th e-book of Sundarasimham series houses
the Nava Narasimha Moorthys and their sannidhis ( Pages 37-39):
http://www.sundarasimham.org ( 67th e-book on Nrusimha avathAram) .
The wonderous anugrahams granted by the AhobalEsan
are enjoyed by every one . For instance , Dasaratha Raaman
stopped at Ahobilam and prayed to Lord Narasimhan for
victory in the ensuing battle with RaavaNan . This sthOthram
is a moving one and Narasimhan blessed Raamachandran
to become succesful in His avathAra Kaaryam . The URL
for Lord Ramachandran's sthuthi ( Nrusimha PanchAmrutha
sthOthram) is :
http://www.sundarasimham.org ( 35th e-book).
2.2) ATULA MANOHARAM AHOBALAM
**********************************
Magnificent indeed in vista and majesty is Ahobilam .
Thirumangai Mannan describes it as : " senRu kANDarkariya
Koil SingavEL KunramE " . He salutes it as the rarest abode of
Lord Narasimha , which is not easy to reach and enjoy .
Thirumangai Azhwar is thrilled to enjoy the unique "atula
ManOharam " of Ahobilam in his ten Paasurams :
Pages 18-31 of the 67th e-book of the Sundarasimham series:
http://www.sundarasimham.org
2.3) HATADUITACAYAM AHOBILAM
*********************************
Annamayyaa points out here that the Ahobila
KshEthram destroys one's sinful ways . The classic
example is the destruction of the sinful ways of
HiraNyan , who mistreated PrahlAdhan and
committed MahApachArams .
2.4: YATHIMATHA SIDDHAM AHOBILAM
************************************
Yathi Matham is Bhagavath RaamAnuja matham .
It was established here by Bhagavath RaamAnuja ,
Swamy Desikan and Adhi VaNN SaThakOpa Jeeyar ,
who recieved SanyAsam from the sacred hands of
Lord Narasimhan Himself . The Saaram of Yathimatham
as practised by Ahobila Matam Jeeyars is summarized in
the 74th e-book of Sundarasimham series:
http://www.sundarasimham.org/ebooks/ebook74.htm
Annamayyaa stayed at the sacred feet of AdhiVaNN
SaThakOpa Jeeyar for Grantha ChAthushtya KaalkshEpam
and promulgated Yathi Matham thru His sankeertanams .
The choice of word Siddham is also noteworthy here .
Third CharaNam:
********************
agu SrI Venkata mahObalam
agamya masurula kahObalam
agapadu puNyula kahObalam
agakularAjam ahObalam
(Meaning Provided by Amabika Ananath & Adviteeya Dixit):
" That Sree VenkatEsa AhObalam
Unpercievable by the wicked , Ahobalam
Percieved by the meretorious, Ahobalam
The King of all mountains --AhObalam ".
In the final charaNam of this Keerthanam ,
Annamayyaa that the Lord worshipped by
his ishta dhaivam , VenkatEsan is none
other than Lord Narasimhan and sees
the Lord of Ahobalam as SrI VenkatEsan .
Annamayya also points out that Lord Narasimhan
is easily accessible to His BhakthAs and hard to
be accessed by the Bhagavath dhvEshis and
those who committ apachArams to His BhAgavathAs .
BhakthAs identify with Him as " Nammudai NamperumAn "
and the wicked fear Him and He is far away from them
( tinaitthanayum sellavoNNaa AmmAn idam) .
Annamayya concludes this keerthanam by saluting
the sacred mountain as "The King of all Mountains"
because it has the DevAthi Devan , Narasinga Moorthy
residing there . Thirumangai salutes Ahobilam mountain
as the abode of the most sacred ONE , who tore apart
HiraNyan with His sharp nails alone , while the world
that watched this adhbhutham and trembled :
"ankaN- jn~Alam anja ankOraaLariyAi , avuNan
pongavAham vaLLUhirAl pOzhnthA punithan idam "
